We just assume that there is continuity for everything. But there is no such thing really.
Each moment however small it is is a independent incident, independent episode.
Maybe the mind deludes us because only the sense of continuity verging almost on an expectation of perpetuity that sustains our hope, gives us optimism and verve to plod on even against heavy odds.
That way the sense of perpetuity is nice although it is a delusion.
However, the very same sense of perpetuity makes us scrooges, misers and hoarders.
Hoarders beyond all reasonable limits in some cases.
Hoarders in thoughts, things and actions.
We have to understand that nature builds up its creations in independent and mostly self-sustaining mircro units.
The cells of a beehive, the cells of a plant, and the cells in human body, all possess some degree of independent existence although these depend for their ultimate sustenance ona central supply unit-
Anyway, there can be always alternate means of sustenance.
We human beings, who just copy the activities of nature, too follow the same pattern mostly in physical activity.
We have standard bricks to build a house. We have standards time limits, and slices of times for every activity. And we record them too as independent..
We keep logs on day-to-day or hour-to-hour basis
We divide life into childhood, youth, middle age and old age.
Nature makes us grow from toothless infants to virile youth and then pushes us back to toothless oldies before we kick the bucket and meet the Maker
But the mind somehow grip on to the past, sticks too much on nostalgia and that makes old men talk, and if possible write, ad nauseum and invariably sulk too.
The propensity of the mind to stick on to past and weave dreams for the future is perhaps a bad habit.
To live the present without any hassles we have to free ourselves from that lingering nostalgia, at least to the extent possible.
We have only this very moment to live.
Past is past and gone.
Future is an enigma, an unknown entity.
N B ---That does not mean we should bring infamy to our past through dirty action today, or should destroy all reasonable chances for our good future through nasty words and stinking deeds today.
