साधुरेव प्रवीणः स्यात्सगुणामृतवर्णने।
नवचूताङ्कुरास्वादकुशलः कोकिलः किल।
दृष्टान्तकलिकाशतके
sādhureva pravīṇaḥ syātsaguṇāmṛtavarṇane|
navacūtāṅkurāsvādakuśalaḥ kokilaḥ kila|
dṛṣṭāntakalikāśatake
A person of lofty mind and sterling character alone would have the capacity to spot and appreciate the great qualities manifesting in similar great people or things. A cuckoo alone is the consummate expert who would spot immediately that new sprouts and flowers have appeared in a mango tree and would happily taste the essence of such sprouts.
