We have to look at Ramayanam of Valmiki as a chronicle of the social ethos of that period too...
maybe five or six millenniums ago.. What was India of that time..
How people behaved..
what were the rivers,
flowers,
buildings,
dressess,
social behaviour of the people of that time and so on..
A poet that is Valmiki, might have exaggerated..
and even infused too much of postive
things and even blacked out the possible bad things..
Still it is a nice chronicle..
Of course, we respect Rama as a divine being..
But a plain reading of Ramayanam of Valmiki would and should persuade us to look at Rama and other characters as just humans too..
Our objectivity and sense of proportion will get sullied if we try to infuse too much of superhuman divinity into the epic..
I do not think even Rama expected that from us..
I mean mixing up too much myth and imagination..
