yes.. we, the iyers of Palakkadu prefer coffee to tea.
But most other Kealities are having tea as their cups of tea.
I belong to a peculiar class.. first initiated from birth to Sanskrit and Vedic ways talking Tamil at home and in our agraharams and being initiated to Malayalam alphabets and Malayalam as our staple tongue.
And many of us talk in Tamil but most do not know how to read or write in Tamil.
And obviously we handle English too very well.
We really do not know whether we have Aryan background, whether we are Tamilians or whether we are Malayalis.
But we have roots in Kerala for eight to nine centuries.
A peculiar mix of human beings
I started my alphabets in Malayalam, and learned Tamil simultaneously and started formal studies in Sanskrit before I was ten.
We in Kerala know Hindi too
Note Iyers of Palakkad is a sort of generic name.. There are Tamil speaking Iyers spread all over Kerala from Trivandrum to Kasargod.. all these, though their number in total would not exceed a handful of lakhs, come under the category of Iyers of Palakkad.. Not merely people who came under the geographical region Palakkad.
