We enjoy the fragrance of the flowers..

So we offer flowers to God..

Regarding some flowers being offered to God in preference to other flowers I feel that is only a minor issue.

It appears to be a subsidiary idea developed by some hardcore yet not so erudite secondary scholars..

Simply, the idea is that we offer to God what we love and like most..

Of course, there are explanations for use or non use of certain floweres for pooja .. in some books .. but I am attracted by the beauty and mercy of the One supreme being rather than bookish schisms..
