दातृत्वमेव गुणेभ्यः भासतेतराम्।
ज्ञातृत्वसहितं तच्चेत्सुर्वर्णस्येव सौरभम्॥
सुभाषितमञ्जरी १०-३९
dātṛtvameva guṇebhyaḥ bhāsatetarām|
jñātṛtvasahitaṁ taccetsurvarṇasyeva saurabham||
subhāṣitamañjarī 10-39
Of all the great qualities possessed by a person his generosity and eagerness to help others stand out when compared with other traits.
If a person endowed with a distinct streak of munificence is blessed with lot of knowledge too, the combined effect would be simply like adding fragrance to Gold.
ദാതൃത്വമേവ ഗുണേഭ്യഃ ഭാസതേതരാം।
ജ്ഞാതൃത്വസഹിതം തച്ചേത്സുവര്ണസ്യേവ സൌരഭം॥
സുഭാഷിതമഞ്ജരീ ൧൦-൩൯
ഒരു വ്യക്തിയ്ക്ക് ഉണ്ടാവാന് കഴിയുന്ന ഉത്തമഗുണങ്ങളില് ഏറ്റവും പ്രശംസാര്ഹാമായത് അയാള്ക്കുള്ള ഉദാരതയും മറ്റുള്ളവരെ കലവറയില്ലാതെ സഹായിക്കാനുള്ള അയാളുടെ മനഃസ്ഥിതിയും ആണ്.
ഈ നല്ല ഗുണത്തിനോടൊപ്പം അയാള്ക്ക് വേണ്ടത്ര അറിവും ജ്ഞാനവും കൂടെ ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് അത് സ്വര്ണ്ണത്തിന് സുഗന്ധം ചേര്ക്കുന്നത് പോലെ വീണ്ടും ഏറെ ഹൃദ്യമാവും.
