मौनी पादप्रहारेऽपि न क्षमी नीच एव सः।

 आकृष्टशस्त्रो मित्रेऽपि न तेजस्वी खलो।हि सः॥

A man who would keep quiet and suffer without any retaliation even when he receives very hard kick from adversaries is simply a weakling, a coward, a lowly or inferior fellow. 

Attempts to potraty him as patient, tolerant, or leinient is just not realistic, it is only window dressing

If a fellow loses his temper, sense of propriety and forgets himself and draws his weapon ready to pounce upon a bosom friend, such action cannot be interpreted as show of excessive energy or vitality. 

It cannot pass muster as an act of heroism. A fellow who attacks his own friend with weapons is just proving to everyone including himself that he is a cruel, vile fellow.

This statement from Kshemendra should be understood in the backdrop of white lies we spread in the society to portray men in power or authority as being generous and as epitomes of virtue and courage while their real nature is diametrically opposite.

Sure, if a person loses his temper under grave provocation once in a while, or if he just draws a knife or trains a gun at an enemey just for fun or joke on a occasion of friendly communion, that need not be taken as an act of violence.

(यो नरः) which man पादप्रहारे having been kicked hard अपि too मौनी silen वर्तते remain , सः he क्षमी patient,lenient, tolerant न not , नीचः lowly, of inferior nature एव only मित्रे अपि even in case of a bosom friend आकृष्ट शस्त्रः drawing weapon to attack नरःman तेजस्वी न not showing energy, not being heroic , खलो हि but is a vile, evil fellow.
