if, as a preceptor, one teaches acharacterless ward, how can he acquire any fame or standing in society

 

कुदेशमासाद्य कुतोऽर्थसञ्चयः कुपुत्रमासाद्य कुतो जलाञ्जलिः।

कुगेहिनीं प्राप्य गृहे कुतः सुखं कुशिष्यमद्यापयतः कुतो यशः॥इन्दिश्चे स्प्रूचे ६९५ चाणक्यनीतिसारे

kudeśamāsādya kuto'rthasañcayaḥ kuputramāsādya kuto jalāñjaliḥ|

kugehinīṁ prāpya gṛhe kutaḥ sukhaṁ kuśiṣyamadyāpayataḥ kuto yaśaḥ||indiśce sprūce 695 cāṇakyanītisāre

If one chooses a nasty land for occupation, how can he earn and accumulate money? Will one get any water oblations if he has procreated a wayward son? Where would be happiness at home if the wife is nasty? In addition, if, as a preceptor, one teaches a treacherous, characterless ward, how can he acquire any fame or standing in society?
