न वित्तं दर्शयेत्प्राज्ञो कस्यचित्स्वल्पमप्यहों
मुनेरपि वनस्थस्य दर्शनाच्चल्यते मनः॥
इन्दिस्चे स्प्रुचे १४५७ पञ्चतन्त्रे
na vittaṁ darśayetprājño kasyacitsvalpamapyaho
ṁunerapi vanasthasya darśanāccalyate manaḥ||

A sensible and clever person, a person with commonsense, would never, and should never, venture to show off his affluence even to a very little extent, nor would/should he openly exhibit to one and all even a fraction of the costly objects and money he has. It should be remembered that even a sage, who has relinquished all the affairs of world and family, could develop some temptations or vascillations in mind once he sees huge collection of money or wealth..
Money is so tempting, so alluring. It can make a burglar out of a saint.
