कृत्वा दैत्यवधं कृष्णः सरामो यदुभिर्वृतः।
भुवोऽवतारयद् भारं जविष्ठं जनयन् कलिम्॥१
ये कोपिताः सुबहु पाण्डुसुताः सपत्नैर्दुर्द्यूतहेलनकचग्रहणादिभिस्तान्।
कृत्वा निमित्तमितरेतरतः समेतान् हत्वा नृपान् निरहरत् क्षितिभारमीशः॥२
kṛtvā daityavadhaṁ kṛṣṇaḥ sarāmo yadubhirvṛtaḥ|
bhuvo'vatārayad bhāraṁ javiṣṭhaṁ janayan kalim||1
ye kopitāḥ subahu pāṇḍusutāḥ sapatnaidurdyūtahelanakacagrahaṇādibhistān|
kṛtvā nimittamitaretarataḥ sametān hatvā nṛpān niraharat kṣitibhāramīśaḥ||2

Krishna incarnated on this earth in the company of Balarama and the Yadu clan with the clear intention of reducing the heavy weight of sin accumulating on this earth, and he killed many demons himself and also managed and arranged such reduction of evil population through instigating strife and rivalry among the arrogant people.
The lord reduced the weight of sin on this earth by arranging the destruction of many kings and their armies in battles and other combative activities. He kindled extreme rage in the minds of the Sons of Pandus by his all-pervading will the incident of deceitful game of dice foisted on them by their cousins Kauravas, and upsetting them by causing verbal abuse and also the dragging of Draupadi by the hair in the open court (by Dussasana) and that extreme anger and acrimony became the cause for the great battle of Mahabharata which resulted in the decimation of huge population of people who fought the battle on both sides.
കൃത്വാ ദൈത്യവധം കൃഷ്ണഃ സരാമോ യദുഭിര്വൃതഃ।
ഭുവോഽവതാരയദ് ഭാരം ജവിഷ്ഠം ജനയന് കലിം॥൧
യേ കോപിതാഃ സുബഹു പാണ്ഡുസുതാഃ സപത്നൈര്ദുര്ദ്യൂതഹേലനകചഗ്രഹണാദിഭിസ്താന്।
കൃത്വാ നിമിത്തമിതരേതരതഃ സമേതാന് ഹത്വാ നൃപാന് നിരഹരത് ക്ഷിതിഭാരമീശഃ॥൨
ശ്രീമദ് ഭാഗവതം ഏകാദശ സ്കന്ധം തുടങ്ങുമ്പോൾ ശ്രീ ശുകമഹർഷി പരീക്ഷിത്തിനോടു പറയുന്നു.
ഭഗവാൻ കൃഷ്ണൻ ബലരാമനോടും യദുവംശത്തോടും ഒപ്പം ഈ ഭൂമിയിൽ അവതരിച്ചത് തന്നെ പാപം കൊണ്ട് ഭാരമേറിയ ഭൂമിയുടെ അത്തരം സാന്ദ്രത കുറയ്ക്കുക എന്ന ഉദ്ദേശത്തോടെ തന്നെ ആയിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹം ഒട്ടേറെ അസുരന്മാരെയും ദാനവന്മാരെയും സ്വയം വകവരുത്തി. പിന്നെ അസത്തുക്കളായ ജനങ്ങളുടെ മനസ്സിൽ ക്രോധവും വിരോധവും ജനിപ്പിച്ച് അവരെ തമ്മിൽ കലഹിപ്പിച്ചു വിനാശത്തിലെയ്ക്ക് നയിക്കുവാൻ വേണ്ടതെല്ലാം ചെയ്തു.
ഭൂമിയുടെ ഭാരം കുറയ്ക്കാനായി ഭഗവാൻ അവിടെ നിറഞ്ഞു നിന്നിരുന്ന ധാരാളം രാജാക്കന്മാരുടെയും അവരുടെ സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെയും വിനാശം യുദ്ധങ്ങളിലൂടെയും മറ്റു നശീകരണ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളിലൂടെയും സംഭവിക്കുന്നത് ഉറപ്പുവരുത്തി.
സ്വന്തം സങ്കല്പത്തിനനുസരിച്ചു പാണ്ഡവന്മാരുടെ മനസ്സുകളില് കൌരവന്മാരുമായുള്ള ഒടുങ്ങാത്ത പകയും വിദ്വേഷവും ഉണ്ടാക്കിയെടുത്തു. കൌരവന്മാരുടെ കള്ളച്ചൂതും, തുറന്ന സഭയിൽ നടന്ന അവഹേളനവും ദ്രൌപദിയെ ദുശ്ശാസനൻ മുടിയിൽ പിടിച്ചു വലിച്ചിഴച്ചതും എല്ലാം ആ കലഹത്തിനു നിമിത്തങ്ങളായി.. ആ കലഹം കാരണമായി ഭൂമിയിൽ അന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്ന രാജാക്കന്മാർ എല്ലാം രണ്ടു ചേരികളായി പിരിഞ്ഞുനിന്ന് മാരകമായ മഹാഭാരതയുദ്ധം ചെയ്തു. അതിലൂടെ ഭഗവാന്റെ ഉദ്ദേശമായിരുന്ന ഭൂഭാരം കുറയ്ക്കുക എന്ന പ്രക്രിയ പ്രാവർത്തികമായി
