अकृत्वा परसन्तापो अगत्वा खलनम्रताम्।
अनुत्सृज्य सतां मार्गं यत्स्वल्पमपि तत् बहु॥
akṛtvā parasantāpo agatvā khalanamratām|
anutsṛjya satāṁ mārgaṁ yatsvalpamapi tat bahu||
This subhashitam just indicates a simple straightforward life of utter contentment
Meaning
If a man manages to earn even very little
Without causing unhappiness to others
Without stooping low in servility before evil fellows
And without giving up the path shown by noble persons
then that possession is indeed great..
Another version of the Subhashitam is also seen

अक्ळेशयित्वा चात्मानं यदल्पमपि तत् बहु॥

akḻeśayitvā cātmānaṁ yadalpamapi tat bahu||
Meaning
If a man could earn even a little
without causing unhappiness to to others
without visiting the household of an evil fellow
without causing damage to the noble spirit present within oneself
then that possession is indeed great..
The spirit of both the slokas is identical..
Our glory in our possessions and accomplishments does not really lie in the showy splendour of what we have
The way we came by such glory is very important, and worth remembering
Wealth and glory which are tainted with falsehood, injustice, and loss of personal dignity are not worth possessing..
If we have acquired something in the right and honest way, and our personal name and character remains unblemished through the activities which gave us such possession, then our lives and such possessions are both worthy of being proud of..

പൂര്ണ്ണ സംതൃപ്തിയോടെ നേരായ വഴിയില് ജീവിക്കാനുള്ള ഏറ്റവും നല്ല മാര്ഗ്ഗമാണ് ഈ സുഭാഷിതം നമുക്ക് കാണിച്ചു തരുന്നത്
അര്ത്ഥം
ഒരാള് കഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നത് വളരെ കുറച്ചു മാത്രം ആണെങ്കിലും
അത് മറ്റുള്ളവര്ക്ക് ദുഃഖവും നഷ്ടവും ഉണ്ടാക്കാത്ത വിധത്തിലും
നീചന്മാരുടെ മുന്നില് മുട്ടുകുത്തി യാചിച്ച് അല്ലാതെയും
മഹത്തുക്കള് നമുക്കായി കാണിച്ചു തന്ന നല്ല വഴിയിലൂടെ മാത്രം ജീവിച്ച് മാത്രവും
ആണെങ്കില് ആ സമ്പാദ്യം തീര്ച്ചയായും വിലമതിക്കാന് ആവാത്തതാണ്.
ഈ ശ്ലോകത്തിന്റെ ഒരു പാഠഭേദം

അര്ത്ഥം
ഒരാള് കഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നത് വളരെ കുറച്ചു മാത്രം ആണെങ്കിലും
അത് മറ്റുള്ളവര്ക്ക് ദുഃഖവും നഷ്ടവും ഉണ്ടാക്കാത്ത വിധത്തിലും
നീചന്മാരുടെ വീടുകളില് കാത്തുകിടന്നു യാചിച്ച് അല്ലാതെയും
മഹത്തുക്കള് നമുക്കായി കാണിച്ചു തന്ന നല്ല വഴിയിലൂടെ മാത്രം ജീവിച്ച് മാത്രവും
ആണെങ്കില് ആ സമ്പാദ്യം തീര്ച്ചയായും വിലമതിക്കാന് ആവാത്തതാണ്.
സ്വന്തം ആത്മാവിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധിക്കും സത്യസന്ധതയ്ക്കും കോട്ടം തട്ടാത്ത വിധത്തില് ജീവിച്ചു മാത്രമായിട്ടും
ആണെങ്കില് ആ സമ്പാദ്യം തീര്ച്ചയായും വിലമതിക്കാന് ആവാത്തതാണ്.
രണ്ടു ശ്ലോകങ്ങളുടെയും ആശയവും അന്തഃസത്തയും ഒന്ന് തന്നെയാണ്.
നമുക്ക് സ്വന്തമായി ഉണ്ടെന്നു നാം അഭിമാനിക്കുന്ന വസ്തുക്കളും നമ്മുടെ നേട്ടങ്ങളും യഥാര്ത്ഥത്തില് അവയുടെ തിളക്കവും പുറംപൂച്ചും കൊണ്ട് വിലപ്പെട്ടവ ആവുന്നില്ല.
ആ നേട്ടങ്ങള് ഏതു വിധത്തില് നമ്മില് എത്തിപ്പെട്ടു എന്ന കാര്യം ഏറെ പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ളതാണ്. കടന്നുവന്ന വഴി എന്നും നമ്മുടെ ഓര്മ്മയില് തങ്ങിനില്ക്കും.
കളവും വഞ്ചനയും കുതികാല്വെട്ടും അനീതിയും എല്ലാം കൊണ്ട് മലിനമായ, സ്വന്തം അന്തസ്സും അഭിമാനവും പണയപ്പെടുത്തി നേടിയ ഒന്നും അഭിമാനത്തോടെ ആസ്വദിച്ചു ജീവിതം മുന്നോട്ടു പോകാന് നമ്മെ ഒരിക്കലും സഹായിക്കുകയില്ല.
നേരും നെറിയും മാത്രമുള്ള വഴിയില് സമ്പാദിച്ച, അത്തരം പ്രവൃത്തികള്ക്ക് ഇടയില് നമ്മുടെ അന്തസ്സിനും അഭിമാനത്തിനും കളങ്കം വരുത്താനുള്ള ഒന്നും സംഭവിക്കാത്ത വിധം മാത്രം നേടിയെടുത്ത വസ്തുക്കളെയും വിജയങ്ങളെയും കുറിച്ച് നമുക്ക് എന്നും അഭിമാനിക്കാന് കഴിയും.
