the wife is considered as the half of husband’s body

 

आम्नाये स्मृतितन्त्रे च लोकाचारे च सूरिभिः।

शरीरार्धं स्मृता जाया पुण्यापुण्यफले समा॥

इन्दिश्चे स्प्रूचे ३७११ दंपतीशिक्षा श्रीनीलरत्नशर्मकृतम्

āmnāye smṛtitantre ca lokācāre ca sūribhiḥ|

śarīrārdhaṁ smṛtā jāyā puṇyāpuṇyaphale samā||

indiśce sprūce 3711 daṁpatīśikṣā śrīnīlaratnaśarmakṛtam

In the sacred traditions approved and followed by the great, and in the sacred texts of dharma, as well as in the age-old traditions followed till now, the wife is considered as the half of husband’s body, sharing equally the virtues and evil effects of all that happens in their life of the couple.
