vocal slanderer is getting sins, while the innocent man gets relieved of all or any sins.

आक्रोशपरिवादाभ्यां विहिंसन्त्यबुधा बुधान्।
वक्ता पापमुपादत्ते क्षममाणो विमुच्यते॥
३६७९ महाभारते

Foolish, rough arrogant people are ever engaged in berating the learned, wise but calm people and the evil fellows spare no opportunity to spread slander and calumny against the men of class. The only relieving factor in the whole process is that the vocal critic and slanderer is getting submerged in sins, while the innocent man with learning and calmness gets relieved of all or any sins.
It is an Indian article of faith that good action brings good and bad and wayward action would spell doom for the one who engages in such action. Of course there is no tangible evidence about this either way. But the people of Mahabharatham eon believed in that anyway.
अबुधाः the foolish people, the arrogant people बुधान् the wise person आक्रोश by shouting bad words, by using foul language against परिवादाभ्यां by slander, by spreading incorrect but harmful information विहिंसन्ति casue harm, injure वक्ता the one who speaks पापं उपादत्ते receives and accumulates the sin क्षममाणः the one who hears but is patient and forgivig (पापाद) विमुच्यते gets relieved from sin
