तास्तु वाचः सभायोग्याः याश्चित्ताकर्षणक्षमाः।

स्वेषां परेषां विदुषां द्विषामविदुषामपि॥

इन्दिश्चे स्प्रूचे ४१२४ प्रसङ्गाभरणे

tāstu vācaḥ sabhāyogyāḥ yāścittākarṣaṇakṣamāḥ|

sveṣāṁ pareṣāṁ viduṣāṁ dviṣāmaviduṣāmapi||

indiśce sprūce 4124 prasaṅgābharaṇe

The words that a person uses for exchanges in an assembly or congregation should conform to the following parameters. 

 Those words should captivate the mind and attention of all sorts of persons like those belonging to one’s own clan or group, persons who are strangers, persons, who are learned , persons who are even inimical to the speaker, and even people who are ignorant and plain. 

These should also  be  the words or speeches which are fit to be used in a cultured society. .

We must avoid futile, vulgar words.

Drawing the attention of others does not necessarily mean all those who listen would agree with the speaker on the subject spoken. The words should contain substance that would make even the opponent listen. That is all.

ता those वाचः words, speeches, utterance तु सभायोग्याः only are, indeed fit for society, fit to be used in an assembly याः which are स्वेषां own persons,परेषां strangers, विदुषां learned द्विषां unfriendly or inmical अविदुषां ignorant अपि too चित्ताकर्षण क्षमाः capable of attracting the mind, capable of catching the attention
