कामाय स्पृहयत्यात्मा संयतोऽपि मनीषिणः।
वीथीनियमितोप्युक्षाः शष्पमासाद्य धावति॥
महासुभाषित संग्रगे 9639 , कुसुमदेव सुभाषिते
kāmāya spṛhayatyātmā saṁyato'pi manīṣiṇaḥ|
vīthīniyamitopyukṣāḥ śaṣpamāsādya dhāvati||

संयतः composed, disciplined अपि being आत्मा self, individual कामायtowards sensual desired स्पृहयति yearn, go after वीथी नियमिताः tied and being strictly led अपि too उक्षाः oxen शष्पं growing grass आसाद्य reaching धावति run towards
Even for people who are well composed and are earnestly trying to lead a very disciplined life, desire for enjoyment and similar temptations play a role that makes them to deviate from the righteous path. Even the trained oxen tied fast to the carts which pass through the royal highway often get distracted and tempted to bend down and try a bite when they see growing grass in the path.
കാമായ സ്പൃഹയത്യാത്മാ സംയതോഽപി മനീഷിണഃ।
വീഥീനിയമിതോപ്യുക്ഷാഃ ശഷ്പമാസാദ്യ ധാവതി॥
മഹാസുഭാഷിത സംഗ്രഗേ ൯൬൩൯ , കുസുമദേവ സുഭാഷിതേ
ഒത്തിരി നിയന്ത്രണവും അച്ചടക്കവും സംയമാനവും എല്ലാം ശീലിച്ച മനസ്സും ആത്മാവും ഉള്ള വ്യക്തി പോലും ഭൂമിയിലെ വിഷയ സുഖങ്ങള് അനുഭവിക്കാന് ആഗ്രഹിച്ചു പോകുന്ന. അത്തരം സുഖങ്ങള്ക്ക് പിന്നില് ഒടിച്ചെന്നു എന്നും വരും. വണ്ടിയില് നല്ലവണ്ണം കേട്ടിയിടപ്പെട്ടു രാജവീഥിയില് നടന്നു നീങ്ങുന്ന കാള തെരുവോരത്തില് വളര്ന്നു നില്ക്കുന്ന പച്ചപ്പുല്ല് കാണുമ്പോള് അത് ഭക്ഷിക്കുവാനുള്ള ആക്രാന്തത്തോടെ കെട്ടുപൊട്ടിച്ചു ഓടുവാന് ശ്രമിക്കുന്നത് പോലെയാണ് അത്
