you can put a price for the mothers labour too..

some post relating to the monetary cost of Oxygen we breathe in the course of our decades of existence is doing the rounds.. Someone is telling that the cost of the oxygen, if bottled in cylinders and used over the years would amount to many many crores of rupees or dollars or what not..

The very idea looks ludicrous and silly to me..
How can we measure the value of a thing that enables us to exist.. and without which we would not survive even a few seconds.. in terms of currency or money equivalent..?
My take on the issue as expressed by me elsewhere
"The costing is just nonsense..
God did not create anything with price tags..
If you are not able to view things beyond monetary terms, there is something wrong somewhere.
Oxygen was there even before human species and many other living species originated..
No one can dispute this..
And this very same oxygen in unmixed form can even kill us
Plants absorb Carbon Dioxide, decompose it during photosynthesis and give out oxygen..
True.. They play a vital role in sustenance of human life.. and life in many animals too..
So protection of plants and vegetation is of great importance.. No doubt about it..
But trying to put a price tag on such vital thing and spreading apparently wise messages on that basis is actually an insult.. A trivialization..
If you stretch the logic further, you can put a price for the mothers labour too..
Does it not sound nonsense?"
