this is a prayer and entreaty to the Universal mother Laksmi in Sreesooktham (Lakshmi Suktham in Rigvedam)

ऋणरोगादि दारिद्र्य पापक्षुदपमृत्यवः

भयशोक मनस्तापाः नश्यन्तु मम सर्वथा॥

ṛṇarogādi dāridrya pāpakṣudapamṛtyavaḥ

bhayaśoka manastāpāḥ naśyantu mama sarvathā||

(May, by Her Grace )

Indebtedness, Diseases, Poverty Sins, Hunger, Untimely death, Fear, Grief, mental turbidity, be destroyed for ever..

श्रीः वर्चस्वमायुष्यमारोग्यमाविधाछोभमानम् महीयते धान्यम् धनम् पशुम् बहुपुत्रलाभम् शतसम्वत्सरम् दीर्घमायुः॥

śrīḥ varcasvamāyuṣyamārogyamāvidhāchobhamānam mahīyate dhānyam dhanam paśum bahuputralābham śatasamvatsaram dīrghamāyuḥ||

May Her Dvine Grace shower on us prosperity resplendence, long life, ever shining greatness,

And excessive bounty of Grains, Money, Catlle, lots of prognies, and a long and happy life of hundred years too..

The pundits may say God knows what should be given to us.even without our asking..

But she is not God alone,

She is the mother for all of us..

We can ask anything to our mother.. Will she not give?
