A king or noble person should ever engage in concerted action to uphold propriety and justice, Dharma. The wealth, influence and splendour available even for a king is just transcient or even open to sudden movements similar to the lightning flicks of the tongues of a snake. Therefore the full attention of the ruler should be concentrated for the protection and welfare of the citizens, and they must steadily preserve their virtues fully appreciating the fact that the body they possess is perishable and only their virtuous deeds will earn them fame and blessedness that woul survive for eternity.
