the wealth that increases when you sped

Knowledge is the best among all possessions.
Thieves cannot steal it
The king or the government cannot confiscate it.
We need not divide it among brothers as we do with ancestral property. (We cannot too)
It is never heavy (especially for those who cherish knowledge)
It would only increase every day even if we spend lavishly (when we impart knowledge to others, our knowledge just increases manifold)

Providing food to the hungry is of course to be considered as the most exalted action in philanthropy and welfare activity. However equipping people with education has to be considered even superior to providing food.
The person who receives the gift of food gets satisfied for some time. However he would get hungry again and then perhaps he would have to fend for food again. Hence supply of food gives only temporary satisfaction. However if a person is given education and imparted skill in some staple work, such training will equip the person with a job and capacity to earn his food permanently. Education and skill would help a person as an eternal protective shield throughout his lifespan.

Teaching can be most effective if the simple methodology of panchatantam are adopted

Teaching can be most effective if the simple methodology of panchatantam are adopted.
The crux of the matter is to come down to the level of the student or perhaps even one step lower and carry the wards slowly and steadily lifting them up from the morass of ignorance and stubbornness.
That is why we call the process of starting the education as upanayanam..meaning being led step by step by someone ..teacher..who is always standing near the ward..and is in complete empathy and solidarity with the student.
The teacher can take long strides but the student's feet are tiny and he can take only short steps.
The teacher should adjust his own strides to be in sync with the student and not vice versa
If your shoulders are not strong enough for carrying your students along then it is not possible for you to teach.
Anyone can be a learned person a scholar..
But a teacher is much more than that.
A teacher should grow on the student from the student's inside and expand transferring all he has to the student.
No other way
In my humble opinion the teacher has no right to complain. If he complains then he has lost his right to teach.

How should a Guru test the capacity and aptitude of a Shishya..?
How should a Shishya select his Guru?
These two questions have been answered clearlly in the standard text on mantras.. The mantramaharnava of khemaraja..
Regarding selection of a shishya or disciple
The test for selection of the Shishya should be the basic knowledge the disciple alreday possessees, the basic intelligence and the capacity to grasp and acquire further knowledge.. The Guru should also test the capacity of the disciple by observing his activities, conduct and character.. In suitable cases, such testing period can be one year, half of one year or at least quarter of a year..
The disciple should choose a guru after ascertaining the following traits.. and not otherwise..
The enthusiasm and dedication and efficiency exhibited by the Guru in Chanting, in conducting fire offerings, meditation, practical aspects of conduct of ceremonies like pooja, the capacity to convey the information and impart knowledge to the disciplte with ease, the clarity in pronunciation and diction. and also the signs of divine consent ..
if we ignore the aspects of mantram and its prayogams from the above discussion, we can easily discern the qualities of a Guru and an apt Shishya in almost any discipline of study..
For consideration of Gurus and Shishyas too

mantramahārṇave

The text mantramahaarnava give a very clear course of action in selection of disciples

in no uncertain terms, it is declared that
============
A guru should not impart education to a person
who is greedy for money
who is by nature slanderous, wicked and stupid
who is fickle in attitude and unstable and vacillating in his conduct and activities
who is lacking in devotion and focused attention for the discipline of study
and
who is averse to serve the guru with great care..
==================
The above quote is attributed to kularnavatantra too.
The guru in India was supreme according to traditions..
The history has turned our attitudes upside down it would appear.. Nowadays, the popular demand seems to be that the learned preceptor should run after people of all denominations and offer them knowledge, perhaps even by falling at their feet..
Let us await for the results..
-----------
Word Analysis.. ( for serious pursuers of Sanskrit)
--------
गुरुणा by the guru the teacher, the preceptor
अर्थलुब्धाय covetous for money (लुब्ध means greedy covetous, avaricious)
पिशुनाय to the one who is slanderous, back biting, malignant, wicked, low, vile, contemptible, foolish, stupid ( all these meanings are illustrated by Apte Dictionary)
अस्थिराय fickle and unstable in mind and attitudes
भक्ति- श्रद्धा- विहीनाय who is bereft of devotion, and dedicated attention for the task on hand
शुश्रूषा विमुखाय च for the one who is not ready to render humble service to t he guru,
नराय to the man
विद्या न देयं education, knowledge should not be given

A man finds water in a well by digging the earth using a spade with persistence, a disciple digs out the knowledge inherent in his teacher by unfailing and solicitous service to the Guru..

Groundwater is present almost everywhere on the surface of the earth ..But one can obtain water for use only if he digs a well.. Similarly, one may have a guru or preceptor who may be a veritable reservoir of knowledge.. but it is the duty of the disciple to gain as much knowledge as possible from the teacher, by persuading him to impart such knowledge through persistent service and unfailing faithfulness to the guru..

That is the Indian tradition.. Now we talk of right to education,, and of taking teachers to task for the unruly behaviour and lack of inclination on the part of the children.. What a U turn..

One can always maintain intimacy with  bosom friends by being just natural.
With appropriate strategy and show of strength one can keep his enemy at bay.
A miser can be kept pleased only by supply of more funds,

One's favourite God can be propitiated through service ( to all humans).
A beautiful young lady can be made happy through romance

One's relatives will be happy if one shows the sense of equality and identify with them.

We lose many close relations by flaunting our own so called status.
For the parents we are just the sons and daughters
and for the siblings we are only brothers or sisters.

To keep a ferocious thing   away from attacking us is only by vocal praise or even flattery
( the ferocious thing can appear in so many forms....wife, boss. mother in law,  to cite a few examples) .

The only way the preceptor can be kept   happy is by prostrating at his feet

The learned person will be pleased when one shares his knowledge and erudition  with humility.  .

One can keep the friendship of an inveterate idiot only by engaging him with silly talk.

A connoisseur in fine arts will be pleased when the art is performed to perfection.

And everyone in the world will be pleased with one's good manners
and character.

the real law of Aarshabharatham

the real law of Aarshabharatham

we in India have always learned to decry all our old thoughts as conservative, pro-elite, and inflexible.  This edict one from one of the master lawmakers, (I find from my references)
Aapasthamba.

those who have intense yearning and interest in learning should not hesitate to go and learn from a person with knowledge in the field even if he is not of matching caste, status etc.,  the ultimate dharma of life should be begged and acquired even if the source for such knowledge is the lowest born human being if the latter is capable of imparting it. And one should not consider about the bad name or status of the family while accepting a gem-like girl in marriage

What else can you expect from the most mature civilization in this world?  We have heard only about jathibhedam and mathadwesham but ours was always a country without such discrimination as proclaimed by the greatest Narayana guru.  If the evil souls manipulated the noble thoughts and law to suit their ulterior motives it was only the failure of the system.
Not the noble preceptors.
All know the experience of sankara before a chandala  with four dogs who appeared before him in his path and Shankara asked Him to move away from the path because the Chandalas proximity was polluting. Then Chandala asks about who was impure, whether the body of the Chandala or the Atman residing inside him.Shankara is humbled and it so happens that the Chandala was Lord Shankara Himself, and the four dogs he was leading were the four Vedas..

Friends, I would request you to forward this one to every friend of yours who  loves India and I may be given a copy of it.  I am sure such simple bul unadulerated law can arise only in this great sacred land
