krishhna the thief, the scoundrel, the liar

On Lord Krishna
You Thief!
You were born in a Jail where your parents were bound with very heavy chains, but you stole out of there and cuddled innocently beside a sleeping herds-woman and your equally cunning sister exchanged places for you. You were born to free this world of all bondage.
You scoundrel!
You ate away tons and tons of butter and drank away litres of sweet milk, all stolen from the neighborhood which fostered you. But how else could you have fed the whole universe which you carried in your belly.
Your liar!
You promised that you will never wield any weapon during Mahabharatha War but you shamelessly broke the promise and charged against Bheeshma threatening to attack him with the wheel of a Chariot. Had you any choice? Your staunch devotee had promised that he will force you to take weapon during the war and saving his promise was dearer to you than keeping your own glory!
You debauch
You roamed in the banks of Kalindi and the precincts of Brindaban dancing with innocent girls who forgot all proprieties in life. But that was the union of the Jeevatman with Paramatman.
You pretender,
Krishna, you, the darkest, craftiest, ugliest boy, you taught Geetha, teaching a brother to kill his own brothers but in truth this Geetha is the most sublime treatise on the meaning of human existence transcending the limits of caste, creed, religion, nationality and more than anything else, time. The greatest tattwa given by this Bharath is Krishna and Krishna alone.
I love you Krishna.

who is Krishna? who is not Krishna?

Was all these Krishnas one and the same?
Difficult to conceive. Even a complete recluse who refused even to wear clothes, Sadasiva Brahmendra sings,
"मदशिखिपिञ्चालङ्करुत चिकुरे महनीयकपोल विजित मुकुरे श्रीरमणीकुचदुर्गविहारे सेवकजनमन्दिर मन्दारे मानस सञ्चर रे।ब्रह्मणि मानस सञ्चर रे।

"My mind you travel in the realms of Brahmam which has His hair adorned with the feathers of a peacock hen in her rut, whose cheeks compete with a fresh sprouting redleaf in colour, Who dwells in desire at the breast of SriiRamani the Lakshmi..". the greatest recluse is enchanted by the earthly beauty and the amorous beauty of that dark urchin of Brindaban,

This is a very beautiful song of separation from Jayadevas Giitagovinda.. Here Radha is under the pangs of separation from Krishna at at the same time in desperation and anger mixed with love for Krishna because she had been informed by her friends that the dobonair lover is having a nice time with other girls. Radha is never pleased with such activities of Krishna but then her love for Him is eternal..So she is in a condition as if she is smouldered by the fire of separtion from Krishna.
The condition of Radha is explained to Madhava in detail by a friend and emissary who has approached the lover who has gone away in mock estrangement.
1. You Hari the master, Radha is visualizing that you are engaged in kissing and loving other girls in secret places and they are drinking the nectar of your lips. So she is sitting in her bower in utter sorrow with a broken heart.
2. You Hari the master, Radha made a brave attempt to come in search of you, but out of sorrow and tiredness she has fallen down in her place even while she was taking a few steps towards your rendezvous. Therefore she is sitting in her bower in utter sorrow with a broken heart
3.You Hari the master, Radha is being burnt by the fire of love but she is just remaining alive in her place covering herself with cooling aids like covering her body with the stalks of the lotus, just keeping alive in the desperated hope that you will come back to her and love her to hear hearts content. Therefore she is sitting in her bower in utter sorrow with a broken heart
4. You Hari the master, she has adorned herself in exquisite clothes and jewellery in the expectation that she will be receiving you in her place, and she is hallucinating that the jewellery and other adornments represent you and so she is herself Madhava..Therefore she is sitting in her bower in utter sorrow with a broken heart
5.You Hari the master, as if in a stupour she is repeatedly asking the friends why you are not coming to her and give her love. Therefore she is sitting in her bower in utter sorrow with a broken heart
6. You Hari, the master, Radha, in her hallucination is seeing you in the darkness of her abode which is resembling the blackest cloud, you the personification of the beauty of blackness and is making moke embraces and giving kisse to that darkness. Therefore she is sitting in her bower in utter sorrow with a broken heart
7. You Hari, the master, she has kept her abode clean, and has adorned herself to the greatest beauty in the expectation that she will be receiving you immediately, but now desperate that you have not yet visited her, she is shedding tears. Therefore she is sitting in her bower in utter sorrow with a broken heart
8. May this beautiful song of Jayadeva describing the vipralamba state of Radha, please the hearts of all the readers and shower on them the blessings of Hari.
(Gita Govindam)
..All mothers see in Krishna their eldest son and expects Him to take care of their lives and lives of their other children
His little elder brother
In a village there lived an indigent widow with a child of five years. The man of the house had left for God's abode when the child was just one year and what he left behind was only a thatched house, a little land and a few cattle. The lady was, through her dint of hard work, tilling the soil, rearing the cattle and eking out an income to keep the child and herself away from hunger. She would have preferred t have forty eight hours for a day to do all her chores. The child Ram was now ready to go to a gurukul to learn his first letters. The boy was enthusiastic but the gurukul was some seven miles away with a stretch of thick forest spanning three miles intervening. The boy could not travel the distance, especially the forest track for fear of the obvious dangers. The mother had no time to accompany the child lest they would starve.
So she told little Ram, " My child you can go to school from tomorrow.. Remember that you have a little elder brother who lives in the forest, rearing his own cows and happily singing on his flute. When you reach the forest area, you just call your elder brother, and he will look after you. But mind you he is a very shy boy. If you ask anything about him he will simply leave you and go away. So simply obey him and follow him."
The child had absolute faith in what his mother said. He set out to school the next morning. When he reached the precincts of the forest the child was terrified. He did not know how to proceed. He called out, "My Anna, I do not know how to go ahead, come and take me through the fores"
True to the mother's words, there appeared a dark little boy slightly older than Ram. He was surrounded by some cows and calves and he had a rustic flute which he had tucked to his hip-garment. " Young brother, I knew you will come. Now walk along with me. I will lead you through the forest path." The elder brother entertained the younger one with music, snacks and nice stories, and the child did not know the tiredness of walking so long a distance. While leaving him, the Anna said, " when you are coming back, you just call out to me, and we can happily walk back."
This happy routine continued for days. The mother was happy. Ram was a bright boy and the guru was also pleased. The class consisted of many princes and other rich students but the Guru was always kind to our little Ram.
One day it was announced that the Guru's daughter was getting married. The students were all invited for the happy function. It was the duty of the disciples to offer presents to the Guru's daughter on such occasion. Ram asked his mother what he could do. She has nothing to give. She said, "Ask your Anna"
That morning Ram unburdened his woes to his Anna. The elder brother was cheerful. " Do not worry. I shall arrange for a present."
He just filled a coconut shell with the milk from a cow he was rearing and told the young boy to give this shell with milk as the present.
The innocent Ram was happy. He carried the small coconut shell with little milk in it with great gusto and offered it as present to the marital couple. The affluent classmates around him were laughing at him. The Guru's servant openly quipped "what is to be done with this little milk in a dirty coconut shell?" The guru was kind. He instructed the servant to pour the milk into a cistern. But when the milk was poured , the flow never stopped. The cistern, and all other utensils in the house were filled with milk, but still milk was flowing.. that milk of divine aroma and taste.. The teacher was wonder-stuck. " From where did you get this cup of milk?" He asked.
The innocent boy that Ram was recounted all his story about his daily travel with his Anna, and how the elder brother had secured the present for the young child.
"What is the name of your elder brother?" Asked the Guru. The child replied that his mother had instructed him not to ask any personal questions to the Anna and so he did not know.
But the Guru knew. " That Anna of your is none other than Govinda himself. Come to the forest, let us all have a darshan of Him" The guru, his family and his sishyas all made a beeline to the forest, with Ram in the lead. As usual, Ram called out his Anna. There was no response. He repeated the address a few more times and when there was no result, Ram started crying.
Then a voice came from the forest, " My younger brother Ram , you are innocent and you did not know who I was. So I was visible to you and I played and sang with you. But now you know who I am, and all these people also know that. I cannot appear before you in person any more. But I love you so much.. Whenever you call me with love I will fulfill your wants.. But you cannot see me again."
Yes, Krishna is a wonder... He Gave us Gita, He assured us that He will appear before us whenever righteousness wanes and evil forces try to gain ascendency..

He assured I am sitting in the heart of all, I am the controller of the memory, knowledge, and the loss of such faculties, I am the one who is known by all Vedaas, I am the author and executor of Vedaanta, and I am the one who knows the Vedas completely..

our sense organs have their limits for cognizance...they can view, hear or sense happenings only within certain limits

Our perception is essetially  the result of our faculties of cognizance and maybe, they have limitations...

God was, is and will be present for ever, everywhere and nowhere. Inside, outside and anywhere...

However, our sense organs have their limits for cognizance...they can view, hear or sense happenings only within certain frequency ranges or within certain parameters..
Krishna is there within those limits and is also present beyond..

We attempt to understand The Universal thing is according to our capacities..

Therefore every idea is correct when it comes to our effort in perceiving Krishna..

A realm of no wrongs..

Every being is just hungry for Him.. become one with Krishna

Whatever be the system of belief
and whoever may call it anything...
if there is any purpose for this life
that can be realized onlywhen He,
that rogue Krishna, comes and tells
" I am here.."
Every being is just hungry for Him
Maybe it will take many births and deaths many sufferings
oceans of tears
but this helpless silly human being has
to find Him
and
should become one with Krishna.

Krishna--He is just me or you He is me and you too He is everything

Krishna is not a theory
or science
or philosophy.
He is an emotion
He is a love
He is just me or you
He is me and you too
He is everything
But He is an elusive rogue..
for sure

You thief, son of Nanda, Krishna, are you running for shelter, fearing discovery, capture and punishment after stealing butter ? If that is so why don’t you hide inside my mind, my mind which is filled with eternal darkness ?

Krishna has to find a dark corner to hide, as he has stolen butter and is afraid of being caught. He is actually running around searching for a place to hide. The poor devotee tells the Lord.. Krishna, the darkest place, where there can never be any light of enlightenment is my own mind. Why do not you occupy the dark shelter that is my dark mind?
The poet thinks that there could be no darker space to hide, than his own mind.
The poet perhaps forgets the fact that once that butter-thief occupies his mind, that space would be converted into a region of eternal brightness.

हे नन्दनन्दन You son of Nadagopa त्वया by you क्षीरसारं butter अपहृत्य having robbed, having stolen शङ्कया in fear of being found out, being caught पलायनं flight for shelter यदि if स्वीकृतं adopted चेत् if that is so त्वं you नितान्त तामसे where there is eternal, permanent darkness मम my मानसे mind कथं न why not लीयसे you stay hiding ?

He is just waiting there with open hands to receive us whatever and whoever we are

Perumal (Krishna the supreme one ) will never reject anything we give him..even if it is just our sin.
He is just waiting there with open hands to receive us whatever and whoever we are.
Even for a person who seems to have lost everything perumal is there.
That is why every azhvar at some stage or other calls sriman narayana as mother..
often our concentrated sin and karma prevent us from calling out the aadhimoolam ..
we seem to be like fellows swimming in Ganga dying of thirst..
just because we refuse to open our mouths.

That fellow who has adorned himself with myriad of wild blossoms is singing, so sweetly, indeed ever so sweetly.
In the wide banks of Yamuna river, the terrain ever visited by sages of lofty minds.
The landcape which is wafted by the cool breeze flowing softly carrying all the fragrance stolen from the flowers blooming aplenty in the valley of Malaya mountain.
In the bower of flowering creepers reverberating with the sweet chirps of birds like Parrots and Cuckoos.
Where the sky is filled with huge masses of clouds resembling dark curly hairs.
That fellow who has adorned himself with myriad of wild blossoms is singing, so sweetly, indeed ever so sweetly.
He is dazzlingly attractive wearing a thick garland of Thulasi leaves around his torso
He is the darling prince of the Shoorasena race.
His immaculate, peerless glory is ever extolled by Brahma who was born on a lotus
That fellow who has adorned himself with myriad of wild blossoms is singing, so sweetly, indeed ever so sweetly.
His enticing beauty instigates a mood of reckless celebration even in the minds of a recluse (Paramahamsa) who has abandoned all worldly affairs.
That Vagrant urchin is deluging the entire universe with the unearthly music that emanates from the flute he carries with him for ever.

By Venmani Nambudiri.. Senior

This is a beautiful song, a soothing lullaby perhaps. The way Yasodha dotes on that wonderful darling black child.

Only a person having knowledge of Malayalam Language The can completely absorb and enjoy the sweetness in full. Simple.. Uncomplicated Malayalam.. Unaffected even by tough Sanskrit usages that was the wont of formative years of Malayalam literature.

A translation of sorts, though entirely inadequate--

That cute darling child Govinda, one day, climbed the laps of his mother, that excellent woman, Yasodha. Krishna for a little while had left the company of his little elder brother Balarama.

The mother’s heart brimmed with affection for her little boy. She cuddled him, held him close to her bosom, and covered him with kisses.

She fed him with her breast milk and made him happy.

The child, who is actually the one pervades of the whole universe, told his mother

Mother, I want to go to the jungle and play with a lot of boys (32 in number) who are all of my age.

They are waiting. I want to go just now.

The mother said. Oh my tiny darling, the sun is up and he is scorching us as if he is showering heat straight on us. How can you go?

The boy replied. Mother, sweet mother, do not stop me.

When I leave for playing in the jungle, I will get hungry.

So prepare for me two balls of cooked rice-- with your affection added—do mix the rice with fresh curd and newly cleared ghee, and keep chips made of plantain wafers on the surface of the balls of rice. Then mom, please give me my flute too.

Telling this in a very enticing tone, and rhythmically shaking his beautiful tiny body, the boy convinced his mother, got what he wanted and set out to the jungle for playing and feasting with his fellow tiny tots..

Beautiful imagery- translation will not do- we have to read the original-and enjoy each word-each word soaked in the sweetness of Krishna’s love for his mother and her love for the boy..

Rama and Krishna--A study in contrast

We can take Rama as a model for our life. Nevertheless, we can take only the words or Krishna as advice. Even the rarest of misconduct on the part of Rama would raise eyebrows, but the activities of Krishna would evoke only indulgent laughter.

A study in contrast.

Many people question the logic and correctness in dealing with Vali. In the remotest corner of Valmikiramayanam, we see Rama crying in frustration and even feeling sore about the damage caused by Kaikeyi. Then Rama sending Sita for the fire ordeal. Such things make us uncomfortable.

However Krishna was doing only wrong things most of the time.. Who bothers?

HE IS JUST and HE IS THE BEST- KRISHNAARPANAM

Our feeling of personal success or defeat arises because we think we are controlling our life and fate. We think we have some authority.

That is not right. Not right most of the time

At some stage in life, we have to leave the good and bad to the real controller, God.

Sooner we realized it, the better

True, in a day of 24 hours we may not be able to bring God to our lives even for half an hour. We are basically ignorant and arrogant-and opportunists too

However, we should find some time to discuss all our affairs with God.

We may talk to Him in words or gestures. Nevertheless, HE will just listen in silence and would give HIS orders too in silence.

Sure, after a sincere and perhaps silent dialogue with God we will surely receive the answers and solutions for all issues.

Once we leave all the good and bad in us to Him, we can trust that He will act in a fair manner.

HE IS JUST and HE IS THE BEST

KRISHNAARPANAM

the presence of Krishna would solve everything

If our mind is always engrossed in the thoughts of the hallowed pair of feet of Lord Krishna,
If we are filled with deep devotion towards the lotus feet of Lord Krishna
Then we need not worry even for a fleeting moment
About
Facing impossible situations in life
Facing problems which are normally insurmountable
Being forced to participate in a battle or war
Or even
Being coming face to face with death itself
Because the presence of Krishna would solve everything

mātuḥ stanau iva śiśooḥ amṛtāyamānau

मातुः स्तनौ इव शिशोः अमृतायमानौ
श्रीवेङ्कटेशचरणौ शरणं प्रपद्ये
mātuḥ stanau iva śiśooḥ amṛtāyamānau
śrīveṅkaṭeśacaraṇau śaraṇaṁ prapadye

I have been listening to Sri Venkatesa Prapatti, a part of Suprabhatam by Manavala Mamuni for how many years...? Yes, we have out of the world Divine experience listening to the rendering of M S Subbalakshmi and the rhythm of words. However, two lines stuck me like a torrent of ambrosia.
While speaking of the glory of the lotus feet of the Lord, the poet says..." I take refuge on the pair of holy feet of Sri Venkatesa, which are like the life-giving pair of source of Amrutham, like the pair of breasts of the mother for the newly born baby.
These two lines declare the ultimate in the glory of the divine feet and the glory of Motherhood for an infant, which has reached the world just now the elixir for survival is stored in the pair of breasts of its mother. No one has ever discovered or devised anything that would match that..
Just like that no one can ever think of anything greater than the safety and security that a devotee can attain by taking ultimate refuge to the lotus feet of Krishna. I love you Krishna

That is the intoxication with Krishna

On one midnight in a winter, the young lad, that Darling Krishna, stood reclining across the trunk of a tree in the banks of Yamuna started playing his flute. The Gopis, Gopas, the cows of Gokula and all the moving and unmoving beings around forgot themselves and whoever could move made a headway in the direction from where the song came. For them there was no stress, no strain, no thought and even no mind at that moment. That is the intoxication with Krishna Where can be any stress.
