भेको वक्ति विलङ्घ्य कूपसलिलं को मे हनूमान् पुरो
गन्धर्वं हसति स्वरं खरतरं कृत्वा स्वनं गर्द्दभः।
खद्योतः परिदर्श्य दीधितिलवं चान्द्रप्रभां निन्दति
क्षुद्रः पश्यति नात्मनीचतमतां मिथ्याभिमानोद्धतः॥

bheko vakti vilaṅghya kūpasalilaṁ ko me hanūmān puro
gandharvaṁ hasati svaraṁ kharataraṁ kṛtvā mudā garddabhaḥ|
khadyotaḥ paridarśya didhitilavaṁ candraprabhāṁ nindati
kṣudraḥ paśyati nātmanocitasatāṁ mithyābhimānoddhataḥ||
The frog in its supreme arrogance makes a big jump across an old deserted well and makes the loud challenge.. who is Hanuman before me ( in my talent of covering a long jump)?
The donkey makes the coarsest braying noise with a lot of enjoyment and is laughing aloud thinking that the great musical notes of the divine singers, the Gandharvas are nothing compared to his own music
The firefly shows up some fleeting flickers of light during the dark night and thinks that the light emanated by it is brighter than the light shed by the moon itself
Indeed, the silly but conceited fellow never realizes that he is lower in attainments even that the lowliest, but, prodded by sheer arrogance, is showing off whatever he thinks he has.
