either grow as a huge tree or perish as you germinate.. no ordinry existence

महातरुर्वा भवति समूलो वा विनश्यति।

नान्तरप्रक्रियामेति न्यग्रोधकणिकाङ्कुरः॥

mahātarurvā bhavati samūlo vā vinaśyati।

nāntaraprakriyāmeti nyagrodhakaṇikāṅkuraḥ॥

A tiny seed of a peepul tree just sprouts and grows into a huge tree. If it cannot grow, it just perishes from the root. There will never be a process which would persuade its growth as a mediocre or dwarfish plant. People of great class too are like that. They may start from a state of near-nothingness and would attain great heights. If they face challenges, they may fight it out and grow in stature. Quite possibly they may perish in that process too. But they will never think of mediocre existence.

വളരെ ചെറുതായ ഒരു ആലിന്‍ വിത്ത് മുളച്ച് ഒരു കൊച്ചു ചെടിയായ ശേഷം ഏറെ ഉയരത്തില്‍ വളര്‍ന്നു പടര്‍ന്നു പന്തലിച്ചു അന്തസ്സോടെ നില്‍ക്കും. ആ കൊച്ചു ചെടിക്ക് ഒരുപക്ഷെ വളരാന്‍ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല എങ്കില്‍ അത് വേരോടെ അറ്റ് പോകും. ഒരിക്കലും ഒരു മുരടിച്ച ഭംഗിയില്ലാത്ത ചെടിയും അല്ല മരവും അല്ല എന്ന വിധത്തില്‍ വല്ല വിധേനയും വളരാന്‍ കാത്തു നില്‍ക്കില്ല. അന്തസ്സും തരവും ഉള്ള മനുഷ്യരും അതുപോലെ ആണ്. വളരെ താഴ്ന്ന നിലയില്‍ അവര്‍ ജന്മം എടുത്തു എന്ന് വരാം. തികച്ചും ഇല്ലായ്മയില്‍ നിന്ന് അവര്‍ ഏറെ ഉയരങ്ങളിലേക്ക് കുതിച്ചുയരും. ഒരുപക്ഷെ ആ വളര്‍ച്ചയുടെ പ്രക്രിയയില്‍ വെല്ലുവിളികള്‍ക്കും ആക്രമണങ്ങള്‍ക്കും ഇരയായി അവര്‍ രക്തസാക്ഷിത്വം തേടി എന്ന് പോലും വരാം. പക്ഷെ അവര്‍ ഒരിക്കലും വലിയ ശോഭയൊന്നും ഇല്ലാത്ത ശരാശരിമാത്രമായ നിലനില്‍പ്പ്‌ സഹിക്കുകയില്ല.

the son is a son only if ....

जीवतोर्वाक्यकरणात् क्षपाहे भूरिभोजनात्।

छायायां पिण्डपात्राच्च त्रिभिरेव सुतः सुतः॥

jīvatorvākyakaraṇāt kṣapāhe bhūribhojanāt|

chāyāyāṁ piṇḍapātrācca tribhireva sutaḥ sutaḥ||

A son is a genuine son worth his name only if he fulfils the three duties, namely

1 He obeys and acts according to the desires and orders of the parents during their lifetime

2 He offers sumptuous food to the learned men and needy (by way of Sraaddha ceremony) on days considered as important to the departed souls and their memories

3 He offers balls of cereal and rice.. called pindas, in Gaya, under the shadow of the Akshaya Vata.. the eternal peepul tree in honour of the departed parents

ജീവതോര്‍വാക്യകരണാത് ക്ഷപാഹേ ഭൂരിഭോജനാത്।

ഛായായാം പിണ്ഡപാത്രാച്ച ത്രിഭിരേവ സുതഃ സുതഃ॥

ഒരു മകന്‍ താന്‍ മകന്‍ എന്ന വാക്കിന് അര്‍ഹാനാവണം എങ്കില്‍ താഴെ പറയുന്ന മൂന്നു കടമകള്‍ ഒരു വിട്ടുവീഴ്ചയും കൂടാതെ നിറവേറ്റുക തന്നെ വേണം

൧ മാതാവും പിതാവും പൂര്‍വികരും ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന സമയം വരെ അവരുടെ വാക്കുകളും നിര്‍ദ്ദേശങ്ങളും അനുസരിച്ച് അവര്‍ക്ക് ഒരു തരത്തിലുള്ള വിഷമങ്ങളും ഉണ്ടാവാത്ത വിധം ജീവിക്കണം

൨ അച്ഛനോ അമ്മയോ വേര്‍പിരിഞ്ഞു കഴിഞ്ഞാല്‍ സൂര്യചന്ദ്രന്മാരുടെ ചലനത്തിനനുസരിച്ച് അവരുടെ ഓര്‍മ്മക്കായി വിധിക്കപ്പെട്ട ദിവസങ്ങളില്‍ സുഭിക്ഷമായ ഭോജനം നല്‍കി ശ്രാദ്ധം ഊട്ടണം

൩. ഗയയില്‍ ജനാര്‍ദ്ദന സന്നിധിയില്‍ അക്ഷയ വടത്തിന്‍റെ ച്ഛായയില്‍ വിട്ടുപിരിഞ്ഞ പിതൃക്കള്‍ക്ക് വേണ്ടി പിണ്ഡം സമര്‍പ്പിച്ചു അവര്‍ക്ക് നിത്യമുക്തി നേടിക്കൊടുക്കണം

classy people never put themselves in situations forcing them to obey other people

न सदश्वाः कशाघातं न सिंहो घनगर्जितम्।

परैरङ्गुलिनिद्देशं न सहन्ते तरस्विनः॥

na sadaśvāḥ kaśāghātaṁ na siṁho ghanagarjitam|

paraiaraṅgulinirddheśaṁ na sahante tarasvinaḥ||

A horse of high pedigree and class would never tolerate, would never wait for lashes from whip

A valiant lion would never tolerate the roar of the black clouds

People of class would never tolerate and receive quietly the orders of others coming as instruction through gestures of the fingers of masters.

In fact classy horses would be so efficient and alert that they would easily guess what transpires in the mind of their masters and would act with alertness even if they are not prodded to action through the use of whips

A lion is so proud and confident about its own strength and its own power to roar that when clouds high in the sky roar aloud, the lions too would roar back, as if returning the challenge

In the same manner classy people would never put themselves in situations where they would have to obey the directions of some other people..

ന സദശ്വാഃ കശാഘാതം ന സിംഹോ ഘനഗര്‍ജിതം।

പരൈരങ്ഗുലിനിര്‍ദ്ദേശം ന സഹന്തേ തരസ്വിനഃ॥

നല്ല ജനുസ്സിലുള്ള കുതിരകള്‍ ചാട്ടയടി സഹിക്കുകയില്ല.. ചാട്ടയാടിക്കായി കാത്തിരിക്കില്ല.

കാട്ടിന്‍റെ രാജാവ് മേഘങ്ങളുടെ ഗര്‍ജ്ജനം സഹിക്കുകയില്ല.

തരവും അന്തസ്സും ഉള്ള മനുഷ്യര്‍ മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ ചുണ്ടുവിരല്‍ അനങ്ങുന്നത് അനുസരിച്ച് തുള്ളിക്കളിക്കാന്‍ ഒരിക്കലും തയാരാവുകയില്ല.

നല്ല തരമുള്ള കുതിരകള്‍ ഏറെ ശക്തിയും വേഗതയും ഉണര്‍വ്വും എല്ലാം ഒത്തിണങ്ങിയവ ആയിരിക്കും. അവ യജമാനന്‍റെ ഇംഗിതങ്ങള്‍ വേഗത്തില്‍ ഗ്രഹിച്ചെടുത്ത് ചാട്ടയടിക്ക് കാത്തിരിക്കാതെ മുന്നോട്ടു കുതിക്കും

സിംഹത്തിന് സ്വന്തം വീര്യത്തെക്കുരിച്ചും ശക്തിയെക്കുറിച്ചും തികഞ്ഞ ആത്മവിശ്വാസം ആണ്. ആകാശത്തില്‍ മേഘങ്ങള്‍ ഗര്‍ജ്ജിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അവ സ്വന്തം ഗര്ജ്ജനത്തെ വെല്ലുവിളിക്കുകയാണ് എന്നാണ് സിഹം ധരിക്കുക. ആ വെല്ലുവിളി നേരിടാന്‍ തയാറായി സിംഹം ഉടനെ തിരിച്ചു ഗര്‍ജ്ജിക്കുംഅതുപോലെ തന്നെ മറ്റൊരാളുടെ ചൊല്‍പ്പടിയില്‍ നിന്നുകൊണ്ട് അയാള്‍ ചൂണ്ടുവിരല്‍ അനക്കുന്നത് ശ്രദ്ധിച്ച് അയാളെ അനുസരിച്ച് ജീവിതം കഴിക്കാന്‍ തരവും അന്തസ്സും ഉള്ള ഒരാള്‍ക്ക് ഒരിക്കലും സാധ്യമാവുകയില്ല
