लोके सुखं परजनाय हितोपदेशः।
तद्वत्समाचरणमेव परन्तु दुःखं॥
सूक्तिमुक्तावली॥
loke sukhaṁ prajanāya hitopadeśaḥ|
tadvatsamācaraṇameva prantu duḥkhaṁ||
sūktimuktāvalī||
In this world it is very easy and comfortable to dish out advices to others about right conduct and morality. However it would give a lot of difficult and misery to the one who gives such advice if he is compelled to follow the high-sounding advices dished out by himself
लोके in this world परजनाय meant for other people हितोपदेशः advice about morality and good conduct सुखं वर्तते is always comfortable परन्तु however तद्वत् following such advices like that स्वयं by oneself आचरणं acting, following एव only दुःखं भवति makes one miserable, is difficult.
ലോകേ സുഖം പരജനായ ഹിതോപദേശഃ।
തദ്വത്സമാചരണമേവ പരന്തു ദുഃഖം॥
സൂക്തിമുക്താവലീ॥
ഈ ലോകത്തില് മറ്റുള്ളവര്ക്ക് സദാചാരത്തെയും ശരിയായ ജീവിതചര്യയെയും കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഉയര്ന്ന ഉപദേശങ്ങള് ഇഷ്ടം പോലെ നല്കുവാന് ഏറെ എളുപ്പമാണ്. അത്തരം ഉപദേശങ്ങള് നല്കുന്നതില് എല്ലാവരും ഏറെ സന്തോഷിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യും. പക്ഷെ ഉപദേശങ്ങളായും നിര്ദ്ദേശങ്ങളായും മറ്റുള്ളവരോട് പറയുന്ന കാര്യങ്ങള് സ്വന്തം ജീവിതത്തില് പകര്ത്താന് ഒരാള് നിര്ബന്ധിതനാവുമ്പോള് അത് ഏറെ ദുഃഖകരവും ഒട്ടും എളുപ്പമാല്ലാത്തതും ആയ കാര്യമാണെന്ന് അയാള്ക്ക് ബോധ്യമാവും.
