ஒருமையுடன் நினது திருமலரடி நினைக்கின்ற
உத்தமர்தம் உறவு வேண்டும்
உள்ளொன்று வைத்துப் புறம்பொன்று பேசுவார்
உறவு கலவாமை வேண்டும்
பெருமைபெறும் நினது புகழ் பேசவேண்டும் பொய்மை
பேசா திருக்க வேண்டும்
பெருநெறி பிடித்தொழுக வேண்டும் மதமான பேய்
பிடியா திருக்க வேண்டும்
மருவு பெண்ணாசையை மறக்கவே வேண்டும் உனை
மறவா திருக்க வேண்டும்
மதி வேண்டும் நின்கருணை நிதி வேண்டும் நோயற்ற
வாழ்வுனான் வாழ வேண்டும்
தருமமிகு சென்னையிற் கந்தகோட்டத்துள் வளர்
தலமோங்கு கந்த வேளே
தண்முகத் துய்யமணி யுண்முகச் சைவமணி
சண்முகத் தெய்வ மணியே.

The prayer is addressed to Lord Murugan shedding his blessings on the universe manifesting himself in Kandagoshtam in Chennai..
His entreaty with the lord is that
Lord, grant me the kinship and camaraderie with blessed souls who revel in meditating upon your divine feet with unwavering devotion
Lord, spare me from the company or even contact with treacherous persons who equivocate, keeping treacherous thoughts in mind and utter false and sweet words just for the consumption of others..
Lord, bless me for ever with a mind engaged in spreading your glory, never make me utter even a single lie..
Lord permit me to follow the glorious path leading to your divine bliss, protect me from being attacked by the devil called arrogance.
Lord please spare me from worldly desires like desire to have physical pleasures(with women),
please bless me with a mind that will never forget your glory
Lord, grant me pure intellect,
grant me the treasure of your mercy,
grant me a life without physical ailments
Lord, you manifest yourself in Kandakottam at Chennai, where virtuous people live ,
you Skanda the valorous Warrior,
you the spotless gem of the Divine Shaiva tenet,
you the gem shining with six faces.
