अत्यावश्यमनावश्यं क्रमात्कार्यं समाचरेत्।
प्राक्पश्चाद्राग्विलम्बेन प्राप्तं कार्यं तु बुद्धिमान्॥
शुक्रनीत्याम्॥
atyāvaśyamanāvaśyaṁ kramātkāryaṁ samācaret|
prākpaścādrāgvilambena prāptaṁ kāryaṁ tu buddhimān||

When a person has to attend to a lot of work, he should arrange his functions in such a way that the most relevant and important things come as first priority and non-essentials come later. The order of performance and the speed of execution also should be regulated this way. A person working this way is the one who is really the diligent one.
അത്യാവശ്യമനാവശ്യം ക്രമാത്കാര്യം സമാചരേത്|
പ്രാക്പശ്ചാദ്രാഗ്വിലംബെന പ്രാപ്തം കാര്യം തു ബുദ്ധിമാന്||

ഒരാള്ക്ക് വളരെ പ്രാധാന്യമേറിയ കാര്യങ്ങളും അത്രതന്നെ പ്രാധാന്യമില്ലാത്ത, ഒരുപക്ഷെ മിക്കവാറും അനാവശ്യമായ് കാര്യവും ചെയ്യാനുള്ള സന്ദര്ഭം ഉണ്ടാവുമ്പോള് കാര്യങ്ങളുടെ പ്രാധാന്യം മനസ്സില് കരുതി പ്രവൃത്തിയുടെ ക്രമം നിയന്ത്രിക്കേണ്ടതാണ്. ഏതാണ് ആദ്യം ചെയ്യേണ്ടത് ഏതൊക്കെ പിന്നീട് ചെയ്യാം, ഏതൊക്കെ പെട്ടെന്ന് മനസ്സിരുത്തി ചെയ്യണം, ഏതൊക്കെ കുറച്ചു സമയമെടുത്ത് പതുക്കെ ചെയ്യാം എന്നീ കാര്യങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് അവബോധം ഉള്ളവനാണ് ശരിയായ ബുദ്ധിമാന്.
