musings 149

We have an even (fifty-fifty) choice to believe or not to believe something that is not validated by our senses..
But if some inner voice says at least once in a while that there is something worth the while in the views held by the majority of average persons, the safest course is not to ignore such warning signals..
Unless propped up by intoxicants, human beings are more or less timid and impressionable..
The Goebbelian principle that a lie told thousands of times would tend to become truth is very valid for ordinary human beings..
I am sure, being brought up the way we are, it would be very difficult to convince ourselves that there is not past or future in births..
and sure, life is a continuum.. it is just a chain of many small quanta of time linked with one another and to the present, and, if the past is an indicator good enough, with the future timeslots that are to come..
True, there may be many deviations, many jarring incidents which would shake our sense of balance, but still, nature usually forces us to return to some sort of equilibrium..
Left to myself, I would never claim I am capable of burying my past in toto, and start every moment in life as is it were the first moment in my existence..
