मातापितृमयो बालः यौवने दयितामयः।
शेषेऽपत्यमयो मूढः हन्त नात्ममयः क्वचित्॥
mātāpitṛmayo bālaḥ yauvane dayitāmayaḥ|
śeṣe'patyamayo mūḍhaḥ hanta nātmamayaḥ kvacit||
The deluded human being things that his father and mother are everything for him when he is a boy. He is completely engrossed with his wife while he is a young person. As he grows elderly his children are everything for him.. But alas, he is never entertaining any thoughts as to who he really is, what is his core substance, what is his soul.
മാതാപിതൃമയോ ബാലഃ യൌവനേ ദയിതാമയഃ।
ശേഷേഽപത്യമയോ മൂഢഃ ഹന്ത നാത്മമയഃ ക്വചിത്॥
മൂഡനായ മനുഷ്യന്‍ ബാലനായിരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അയാള്‍ക്ക് സ്വന്തം അമ്മയും അച്ഛനുമാണ് എല്ലാം. പ്രസരിപ്പുള്ള ചെറുപ്പക്കാരനായി അയാള്‍ വളരുമ്പോള്‍ അയാളുടെ ലോകം സ്വന്തം ഭാര്യയില്‍ ചുരുങ്ങുന്നു. പ്രായം കൂടുമ്പോള്‍ അയാള്‍ക്ക് സ്വന്തം മക്കളെക്കുരിച്ചല്ലാതെ ഒരു ചിന്തയും ഇല്ല. പക്ഷെ കഷ്ടം, അയാള്‍ ഒരിക്കലും യഥാര്‍ത്ഥത്തില്‍ താന്‍ ആരാണ്, തന്റെ ആത്മാവും അന്തഃസത്തയും എന്താണ് എന്നൊന്നും ഒരിക്കലും ചിന്തിക്കാറെയില്ല.
