chanting of Mantras and application of magical spells..

A question

Great poets and sages have mentioned that dangerous situations like snake bite could be overcome by chanting of Mantras and application of magical spells.. A question as to whether there is evidence for this?
My take on it
True, many poets in Sanskrit have mentioned that venomous snakes submit to intense spells or mantras
Example Bharavi in Kiraatarjuneeyam
सुदुस्सहात् मन्त्रपदात् इवोरगः
Like a snake remaining caught by a spell through intense and unbearable words uttered as a mantra
May be it is poetic imagination or poetic license, or reflection of the popular belief in the society
And mantra as a part of treatment is accepted even in Ayurveda.. Of course, added to the mantras there would be herbs and medicines too.. However, whether these mantras are mere pshychology or more, can never be proved..
Such faith-based modes of treatment are indirectly used in all systems of medicine.. and it might work often because diseases and accidents affects the mind as well as the body.
Spells do reassure the patient
I am sure no one can give clear evidence for this.. Even the chanting of divine names, Vedic mantras like Gayatri are quoted by saints and poets as giving very positive effects..
These too can never be proved.
If we have some belief, we can follow, and simultaneiously treatment which is physically proved to be beneficial also should be given simultaneously
Our life often depends on faith and trust, and we cannot have authticated evidence for every issue or every belief under the sun
Even love for children, fidelity in marriage, respect for parents, all these are just conditioned psychological and social responses in most of the cases..
Can we give any evidence that such ideas or rules have immutable and clear proofs beyone mere social adjustments?
However all systems of established law and jurisprudence recognize such relations and duties prescribed as a consequence of such connections.
Even the so called exact sciences that are supposed to be logical to precise levels, lose all their sense at some stage..
Life is ultimately a saga or faith, a saga of love, a saga of understanding and adjustments..
Rules, and evidences are just persuasive factors, and not absolute necessities..
