यस्मिन्यथा वर्तते यो मनुष्यस्
तस्मिंस्तथा वर्तितव्यं स धर्मः ।
मायाचारो मायया वर्तितव्यः
साध्वाचारः साधुना प्रत्युदेयः ॥४७३॥ [म.भा. ५.३७.७]
yasminyathā vartate yo manuṣyas
tasmiṃstathā vartitavyaṃ sa dharmaḥ ।
māyācāro māyayā vartitavyaḥ
sādhvācāraḥ sādhunā pratyudeyaḥ ॥473॥ [ma.bhā. 5.37.7]
The attitude and behaviour that a person should maintain in respect of another peson should be regulated in a similar manner and to the same extent as to what the other person conducts himself in his dealings. That is the rule of Dharma or righteousness. A person who follows the path of deceit and dishonesty should be returned in the same coin and a man of spotlessly generous and righteous behaviour should be considered with the same attitude and reverence.

യസ്മിന്യഥാ വര്‍ത്തതേ യോ മനുഷ്യസ്തസ്മിംസ്തഥാ വര്‍ത്തിതവ്യം സ ധര്‍മ്മഃ ।
മായാചാരോ മായയാ വര്‍ത്തിതവ്യഃസാധ്വാചാരഃ സാധുനാ പ്രത്യുദേയഃ ॥൪൭൩॥ [മ.ഭാ. ൫.൩൭.൭]
ഒരു വ്യക്തി മറ്റൊരാളോട് പെരുമാറുന്നതും അയാളുമായി ഇടപാടുകള്‍ നടത്തുന്നതും എല്ലാം അയാള്‍ അത്തരം ഇടപാടുകളില്‍ പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിക്കുന്ന സത്യസന്ധതയും, ഉത്സാഹവും എല്ലാം കണ്ടറിഞ്ഞു അതിനനുസരിച്ച് മാത്രം ആയിരിക്കണം. അതാണ്‌ ശരിയായ ധര്‍മ്മം. വഞ്ചനയും കാപട്യവും കാണിക്കുന്നവരോട് അതേ നാണയത്തില്‍ തിരിച്ചടിക്കാം. അതെ സമയം നേരും നെറിയും ഉള്ളവരോട് അതെ സത്യസന്ധതയോടും നീതിബോധത്തോടും തന്നെ പെരുമാറുക തന്നെ വേണം.
