यौवनं जरया ग्रस्तं आरोग्यं व्याधिभिर्हतम्।
जीवितं मृत्युमभ्येति तृष्णैका निरुपद्रवा॥४५६
जीर्यन्ति जीर्यतः केशाः दन्ताः जीर्यन्ति जीर्यतः।
जीविताशा धनाशा च जीर्यतोऽपि न जीर्यति॥ ४५७
सारसमुच्चये॥
yauvanaṁ jarayā grastaṁ ārogyaṁ vyādhibhirhatam|
jīvitaṁ mṛtyumabhyeti tṛṣṇaikā nirupadravā||456
jīryanti jīryataḥ keśāḥ dantāḥ jīryanti jīryataḥ|
jīvitāśā dhanāśā ca jīryato'pi na jīryati|| 457
sārasamuccaye||
A man may be young now but he is threatened and is being hunted by the advent of old age.
A man may be having robust health now but the threat of ill health and diseases loom large before him always.
A man may be celebrating his life this moment but sure he is approaching death with every passing moment
However greed, avariciousness which has taken possession of him remains within him strong and without challenge from any source whatsoever.
As a man approaches old age, his hairs fall, and whatever is there turn grey too
As a man approaches old age , his teeth decay and they fall down too
However, even as he reaches advanced age, his intense yearning for living for ever and his avarice for money never decreases
യൌവനം ജരയാ ഗ്രസ്തം ആരോഗ്യം വ്യാധിഭിര്ഹതം।
ജീവിതം മൃത്യുമഭ്യേതി തൃഷ്ണൈകാ നിരുപദ്രവാ॥൪൫൬
ജീര്യന്തി ജീര്യതഃ കേശാഃ ദന്താഃ ജീര്യന്തി ജീര്യതഃ।
ജീവിതാശാ ധനാശാ ച ജീര്യതോഽപി ന ജീര്യതി॥ ൪൫൭
സാരസമുച്ചയേ॥
ഒരാള് ഇന്ന് യൌവനത്തിന്റെ പ്രസരിപ്പില് ഓടി നടക്കുന്നുണ്ടാവാം. പക്ഷെ വാര്ദ്ധക്യം വൈകാതെ വന്നെത്തും എന്ന ഭീഷണി അയാളുടെ മനസ്സില് എന്നും ഉണ്ടാവും
ഒരാള് ഇന്ന് ഏറെ ആരോഗ്യവാനായിരിക്കാം. പക്ഷെ ക്ഷീണവും രോഗങ്ങളും ഏതു സമയത്തും അയാളെ പിടികൂടാം എന്ന ചിന്ത അയാളെ എന്നും അലട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടിരിക്കും
ഒരാള് എന്ന് അയാളുടെ ജീവിതം അടിച്ചുപൊളിച്ചു കൊണ്ട് ആഘോഷിക്കുന്നുണ്ടാവാം. പക്ഷെ എന്നെങ്കിലും മരണം വന്നെത്തുമെന്നും എല്ലാം ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച് യാതയാകേണ്ടി വരും എന്നുമുള്ള യാഥാര്ഥ്യം അയാളുടെ ചിന്തകളെ എന്നും വെല്ലുവിളിച്ചു കൊണ്ടിരിക്കും.
പക്ഷെ, അയാളെ പിടികൂടിയിരിക്കുന്ന ആര്ത്തിയും ആക്രാന്തവും എന്നും അയാളോടൊപ്പം ഒരു വെല്ലുവിളിയും ഇല്ലാതെ കൂട്ടിനിരിക്കുന്നുണ്ടാവും. ആര്ത്തിയെ തടുക്കാന് കഴിവുള്ള ഒന്നും ഇല്ല.
ഒരു മനുഷ്യന് വൃദ്ധനാവുമ്പോള് അയാളുടെ തലയിലുള്ള മുടികള്കൊഴിഞ്ഞു പോകും ബാക്കിയുള്ള മുടികള് നരച്ചിരിക്കുകയുംചെയ്യും
ഒരു മനുഷ്യന് കിഴവന് ആവുമ്പോള് അയാളുടെ പല്ലുകള് പൊഴിഞ്ഞും, ദ്രവിച്ചും നഷ്ടപ്പെടും
പക്ഷെ പ്രായം എത്ര ചെന്നാലും ഒരാളുടെ പണത്തോടുള്ള ആക്രാന്തം ഒരിക്കലും കുറയുകയില്ല. അതുപോലെ വല്ല വിധവും ജീവിച്ചിരിക്കാനുള്ള ആഗ്രഹവും ഒരു കുറവുമില്ലാതെ അയാളെ പിന്തുടരും.
