the sun and moon too go down and set after they have risen

भगवन्तौ जगन्नेत्रे सूर्यचन्द्रमसावपि।

पश्य गच्छत एवास्तं नियति केन लङ्घ्यते॥

सुभाषितरत्नमाला १२१

bhagavantau jagannetre sūryacandramasāvapi|

paśya gacchata evāstaṁ niyati kena laṅghyate||

The most powerful twosome, the most endowed pair, the two eyes of the universe, the sun and moon too go down and set after they have risen and floated in the sky through their appointed time. Who can overcome the dictates of fate, the eternal rules of nature?

पश्य see भगवन्तौ the most powerful, the most endowed twosome जगन्नेत्रे the two eyes of the universe सूर्याचन्द्रमसौ the sun and the moon अपि to अस्तं गच्छतः go down and set एव indeed नियतिः fate केन by whom लङ्घयते can be overcome

ഭഗവന്തൌ ജഗന്നേത്രേ സൂര്യചന്ദ്രമസാവപി।

പശ്യ ഗച്ഛത ഏവാസ്തം നിയതി കേന ലങ്ഘ്യതേ॥

സുഭാഷിതരത്നമാലാ ൧൨൧

ഒരു നിമിഷം ചിന്തിക്കുക.

സൂര്യനും ചന്ദ്രനും ഈ പ്രപഞ്ചത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും ശക്തി കൂടിയ രണ്ടു വ്യക്തികളാണ്, പ്രതിഭാസങ്ങളാണ്.

അവര്‍ ഈ ലോകത്തിന്‍റെ രണ്ടു കണ്ണുകളെന്നപോലെ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ച് ഇവിടെ നടക്കുന്നത എല്ലാം ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുന്നു, എല്ലാ കാര്യങ്ങളിലും പങ്കെടുക്കുന്നു. എല്ലാ ദിവ്യ ശക്തികളുടെയും സൌഭാഗ്യങ്ങളുടെയും വിളനിലങ്ങളാണല്ലോ രണ്ടു പേരും!

പക്ഷെ ശക്തരായ സൂര്യചന്ദ്രന്‍മാര്‍ പോലും അവര്‍ക്ക് നല്‍കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന കാലയളവില്‍ ഉദിച്ചു ഉയര്‍ന്നു ശക്തി പ്രാപിച്ച ശേഷം, ആകാശത്തില്‍ ജൈത്രയാത്ര നടത്തിയ ശേഷം അവര്‍ക്കായി നിശ്ചയിച്ച നേരം വരുമ്പോള്‍ അസ്തമിക്കുക തന്നെ ചെയ്യുന്നു. പ്രകൃതിയുടെ, വിധിയുടെ, തീരുമാനങ്ങളും നിയമങ്ങളും മറികടക്കാന്‍ ആര്‍ക്കു കഴിയും ?
