आयुः श्रियं यशो धर्म लोकानाशिष एव च ।
हन्ति श्रेयांसि सर्वाणि पुंसो महदतिक्रमः ॥ १०.४.४६

Shri Suka is telling Pariskshit
Oh King, Insulting, showing cruelty to or trespassing the honour of great people would destroy everything that a human being has.. His expectation for long life, his wealth and affluence, his good name and fame, his chance to attain higher worlds after his earthly life because such elevation entirely depends on his righteous conduct in this world, the blessedness from any great source that he can aspire for, and the progress and splendour he could achieve through diving blessings, all would be lost if he causes misery to noble souls.

ശുകന് പരീക്ഷിത്തിനോടു പറയുകയാണ്, രാജാവേ പുണ്യാത്മാക്കളെയും സാധുക്കളെയും ഉപദ്രവിക്കുക, അവരുടെ ജീവിതം ദുഃസ്സഹം ആക്കുന്ന തരത്തിലുള്ള ഇടപെടലുകള് നടത്തുക, അവരെ അവഹേളിക്കുക എന്നീ കാര്യങ്ങള് ചെയ്യുന്നവര്ക്ക് ജീവിതത്തില് എല്ലാ നന്മയും സുഖവും നഷ്ടപ്പെടും. നീണാള് സുഖമായി ജീവിക്കാനുള്ള അവരുടെ മോഹവും, സ്വത്തും പണവും സമൃദ്ധിയും, നല്ല പേരും പെരുമയും, ഭൂമിയില് ധര്മ്മത്തിന്റെ പാതയില് നടന്നാല് മാത്രം ലഭിക്കാവുന്ന നല്ല നിലയിലുള്ള പരലോക ജീവിതവും, എല്ലാ വിധത്തിലുള്ള അനുഗ്രഹങ്ങളും, അത്തരം അനുഗ്രഹങ്ങളും ആശിസ്സുകളും കൊണ്ട് മാത്രം നേടാവുന്ന എലാ വിധ ഭൌതികവും ആധ്യാത്മികവുമായ നേട്ടങ്ങളും എല്ലാം നല്ല മനുഷ്യരെ പീഡിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് മൂലം ഒരാള്ക്ക് എന്നെന്നേയ്ക്കുമായി നഷ്ടപ്പെടും
