अत्यूर्जितं वस्तु चलं च चित्तमतः प्रमादः सुलभः प्रणेतुः॥

प्रमादिनौ लेखकमुद्रकौ च क्वात्यन्तिकी पुस्तक ते विशुद्धिः।

atyūrjitaṁ vastu calaṁ ca cittamataḥ pramādaḥ sulabhaḥ praṇetuḥ||

pramādinau lekhakamudrakau ca kvātyantikī pustaka te viśuddhiḥ|

"The subject matter is very powerful and deep, the mind is fickle, the author is capable of forgetfulness and unintentional errors, the editor, copywriter, typesetter and the printer are also capable of committing such errors, so, my dear book, how can there be absolute purity for you.?"

a standard text followed in Sanskrit Departments of many great temples of knowledge, for more than 130 years..

He says, in the preface of the book, while seeking the pardon of the readers for the many errors in ideas, spellings, printing, and so on..

I have been writing and sending messages and often posing as a very erudite man of wisdom. I know I have been committing all the above errors and many more follies which can be perpetrated only by idiots posing as wise men. This is a poser to myself too.

തരവും തന്‍റെടവും ഉള്ള മഹാന്മാര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ ഉയര്‍ച്ച പ്രദര്‍ശിപ്പിക്കുന്നത് സ്വന്തം അറിവും കഴിവും വാചകക്കസര്‍ത്തിലൂടെ വിളമ്പിക്കൊണ്ട് അല്ല. മറിച്ച് സ്വന്തം പരിമിതികള്‍ യാഥാര്‍ഥ്യബോധത്തോടെ ഉള്‍ക്കൊള്ളാനും അവ തങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് ഉണ്ടെന്നു അംഗീകരിക്കാനും അവര്‍ ഒട്ടും മടി കാണിക്കാറില്ല.

ശ്രീ രാജരാജവര്‍മ്മ (കേരള പാണിനി) യുടെ ലഘുപാണിനീയം എന്ന ഗ്രന്ഥത്തിന്‍റെ അവതാരികയില്‍ ഗ്രന്ഥകര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തല്‍ ആണ് ഈ ചിന്തകള്‍ക്ക് കാരണം.

സംസ്കൃത വ്യാകരണവും മറ്റു അത്യാവശ്യങ്ങളായ സങ്കേതങ്ങളും തുടക്കക്കാര്‍ക്ക് പോലും അറിയുവാന്‍ വേണ്ടി സൃഷ്ടിക്കപ്പെട്ട മഹത് ഗ്രന്ഥം. കഴിഞ്ഞ നൂറ്റി മുപ്പതിലേറെ വര്‍ഷങ്ങളായി കേരളത്തില്‍ ഒരു നിധി എന്ന പോലെ കരുതി അധ്യയനം ചെയ്തു വരുന്ന ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്‍റെ കലവറ.

മഹാനായ ഗ്രന്ഥകര്‍ത്താവ് പുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ ആമുഖത്തില്‍ തനിക്കും പ്രസാധകര്‍ക്കും എല്ലാം സംഭവിച്ചേക്കാവുന്ന തെറ്റുകള്‍ക്ക് മാപ്പ് അപേക്ഷിക്കുകയാണ്.

ഞാനും ഒരുപാട് എഴുതുന്നുണ്ട്.. വാകുകളും വചനങ്ങളും ഉപയോഗിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അറിഞ്ഞും അറിയാതെയും ശരികളെക്കാള്‍ കൂടുതല്‍ തെറ്റുകളാണ് എപ്പോഴും സംഭവിക്കുന്നത്. മഹത്തുക്കള്‍ക്ക്‌ ഉള്ളതും എനിക്ക് ഇല്ലാത്തതും ആയ ഒന്നാണ് വിവരം. അവര്‍ക്ക് ഇല്ലാത്തതും എനിക്ക് ധാരാളമായി ഉള്ളതും ആയ ഒന്നാണ് അഹങ്കാരം. സ്വയം വലിയ ഒരു സംഭവമാണെന്ന് തെറ്റിദ്ധരിച്ചു മറ്റുള്ളവരെയും ഉപദ്രവിച്ച് നാളുകള്‍ തള്ളി നീക്കുന്നു. മാപ്പ്
