I found one slokam in Mahabharatham. A friend found the same slokam in Uthara kandam of Valmiki Ramayanam. That is okay
There are many cases where similar, identical or almost similar slokams found in both epics, puranas, other kavyams and even in some upanishads. Some variants may be found in Vedas too. Usually I give reference based on the text that came to my notice.
A golden fish may swim in Ganga Yamuna Kaveri or Godavari or in some tank too.
It makes little difference. It is a beautiful golden fish.
Nevertheless there are some hyper-active scholars who pull at the tufts of one another about attributions
