मतिरेव बलाद् गरीयसी यदभावे करिणामियं दशा ।
इति घोषयतीव डिण्डिमः करिणो हस्तिपकाहतः क्वणन् ॥

matireva balād garīyasī yadabhāve kariṇāmiyaṃ daśā ।
iti ghoṣayatīva ḍiṇḍimaḥ kariṇo hastipakāhataḥ kvaṇan ॥

Size of the body and physical strength need not be as important as intelligence and cleverness in deciding a persons importance. The tiny mahout (the man controlling the elephant) walks ahead and the huge elephant follows hime obediently, and the bell attached to the neck of the elephant is chiming repeatedly saying the intelligence is stronger than mere physicial strength.
If physical strength was the controlling factor, then the mahout would have been helpless.
മതിരേവ ബലാദ് ഗരീയസീ യദഭാവേ കരിണാമിയം ദശാ ।
ഇതി ഘോഷയതീവ ഡിണ്ഡിമഃ കരിണോ ഹസ്തിപകാഹതഃ ക്വണന് ॥
ഹിതോപദേശം
ശരീരത്തിന്റെ വലിപ്പവും ബലവും ഒന്നും അല്ല ഒരു വ്യക്തിയുടെ പ്രാധാന്യം നിശ്ചയിക്കുന്നത്. ഒരാളുടെ ബുദ്ധിശക്തിയും കാര്യക്ഷമതയും അയാളെ നേതാവാക്കുന്നു. ചെറിയ ശരീരമുള്ള പാപ്പാന് മുന്നില് നടക്കുമ്പോള് അയാളുടെ പിന്നില് അനുസരണയോടെ നടക്കുന്ന കൂട്ടനായ ശരീരമുള്ള ആനയെ കണ്ടിട്ടില്ലേ. ആ ആനയുടെ കഴുത്തില് ഒരു മണിയും കെട്ടിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ആ മണി വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും മുഴങ്ങുന്നത ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടാണ് .. “ബുദ്ധിയാണ് വലുത്, ശരീരത്തിന്റെ വലിപ്പവും ശക്തിയും അല്ല. “
