मा धाव मा धाव विनैव दैवं नो धावनं साधनमस्ति लक्ष्म्याः।
चेद्धावनं साधनमस्ति लक्ष्म्याः श्वा धावमानो न लभेत लक्ष्मीम्॥
सुभाषितरत्नमाला ११८
mā dhāva mā dhāva vinaiva daivaṁ no dhāvanaṁ sādhanamasti lakṣmyāḥ|
ceddhāvanaṁ sādhanamasti lakṣmyāḥ śvā dhāvamāno na labheta lakṣmīm||
subhāṣitaratnamālā 118
Do not be running around all the time in pursuit of something. Do not always run around. Without the assistance of luck, without the favour of fate no amount of running around can really be the source of wealth, welfare and happiness. If mere running around is the supreme source for wealth and welfare, the dog which runs around without stop all the time should be the wealthiest, healthiest and happiest being.. Is it not ?
The dog runs around aimlessly all the time.. Does it find happiness
त्वं you मा do not धाव run मा do not धाव run दैवं assistance of fate, luck विना witout धावनं running around लक्ष्म्याः wealth, welfare साधनं the means of achievement न एव not indeed धावनं running around लक्ष्म्याः wealth, prosperity, welfare साधनं means अस्ति is चेत् if धावमानः runs around श्वा dog लक्ष्मीं prosperity, welfare, happiness लभेत obtain किं न is it not?
മാ ധാവ മാ ധാവ വിനൈവ ദൈവം നോ ധാവനം സാധനമസ്തി ലക്ഷ്മ്യാഃ।
ചേദ്ധാവനം സാധനമസ്തി ലക്ഷ്മ്യാഃ ശ്വാ ധാവമാനോ ന ലഭേത ലക്ഷ്മീം॥

ഓടിക്കൊണ്ടേയിരുന്നത് കൊണ്ട് വലിയ പ്രയോജനം ഒന്നും ഇല്ല ഓടേണ്ട ഓടേണ്ട. ഭാഗ്യവും ദൈവാധീനവും ഇല്ലെങ്കില് അന്തമില്ലാതെയുള്ള ഓട്ടം കൊണ്ട് ഐശ്വര്യവും സന്തോഷവും എല്ലാം നേടിയെടുക്കാന് കഴിയും എന്ന് തോന്നുന്നുണ്ടോ
നായയെ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കൂ. അത് ഇപ്പോഴും ഓടിക്കൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കുന്നു. ഓട്ടം മാത്രമാണ് സന്തോഷത്തിന്റെയും സമൃദ്ധിയുടെയും ഉറവിടം എന്നുണ്ടെങ്കില് നായയാവണം ഏറ്റവും വലിയ ഭാഗ്യവാന്
പക്ഷെ പട്ടി എപ്പോഴും ഓടിക്കൊണ്ടേയിരിക്കുന്നു. പണവും പ്രതാപവും ഒന്നും ഇല്ലാതെ
