सतां स्वल्पमपि द्रव्यं कूपे जलमिवाश्रयेत्।
प्रभूतमप्यसाधूनां द्रव्यं जलं इवार्णवे॥
व्यास सुभाषिते॥बृहत्कथा॥
satāṁ svalpamapi dravyaṁ kūpe jalamivāśrayet|
prabhūtamapyasādhūnāṁ dravyaṁ jalaṁ ivārṇave||
vyāsa subhāṣitee||bṛhatkathā||
One has to seek earnings and financial assistance from the people who are noble at heart. Even if they are having only limited resources, such resources are clean and untainted just like water in a little well. The wealth possessed by evil minded fellows, even if such wealth is huge, should be shunned. They are like the waters in the ocean full of salt and unsuitable for consumption.
स्वल्पं even though little अपि too सतां of good people द्रव्यं the money, possessions कूपे in the well जलं water इव like आश्रयेत् depend on असाधूनां of evil minded people प्रभूतं even though very huge, even though in profusion अपि too द्रव्यं wealth अर्णवे in the ocean जलं water इव भवति is like .
സതാം സ്വല്പമപി ദ്രവ്യം കൂപേ ജലമിവാശ്രയേത്।
പ്രഭൂതമപ്യസാധൂനാം ദ്രവ്യം ജലം ഇവാര്ണവേ॥
വ്യാസ സുഭാഷിതേ॥ബൃഹത്കഥാ॥
ജീവിതോപാധിക്കായും ധനസഹായത്തിനായും നല്ല മനുഷ്യരെ മാത്രമേ ആശ്രയിക്കാവൂ. അവരുടെ പണവും സമ്പാദ്യവും താരതമ്യേന അളവില് കുറഞ്ഞവ ആയാലും കിണറ്റിലെ വെള്ളം പോലെ തെളിഞ്ഞതും ശുദ്ധവും ആയിരിക്കും.
നീചന്മാരുടെ കയ്യിലുള്ള പണം കടലിലെ വെള്ളം പോലെ ആണ്. വേണ്ടതില് അധികം പണം ഉണ്ടാവാം. പക്ഷ സമുദ്രത്തിലെ ജലം ഉപ്പും മറ്റു മാലിന്യങ്ങളും കാരണം നമ്മുടെ നിത്യോപയോഗത്തിനു ഉതകാത്തതു പോലെ ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ സമ്പത്തും ഒരു നന്മയ്ക്കും പ്രയോജനപ്പെടുകയില്ല.
