अक्के चेन्मधु विन्देत किमर्थं पर्वतं व्रजेत्।
इष्टार्थस्य च संसिद्धौ को विद्वान् यत्नमाचरेत्॥
साङ्ख्य-योग-कोशः
akke cenmadhu vindeta kimarthaṃ parvataṃ vrajet।
iṣṭārthasya ca saṃsiddhau ko vidvān yatnamācaret॥
A sensible person would exert himself only if he knows that he has to work reasonably hard in order to get things done. No one would work really hard if things are easy to obtain. A man is in search of honey. If honey is stored in the backyard of his own house and he could easily get it, will he set out in search of trees in the mountain where honey is stored by the bees.
This statement has many dimensions.
Firstly, if one is sensible, one should apply his energies in the optimal way possible. He should work in such a way that he receives maximum benefit out of the time and energy he spends
अक्के in the easy corner of the house मधु honey विन्देत wis to be obtained, is available चेत् if नरः man किमर्थं for what purpose पर्वतं mountain व्रजेत would go इष्टार्थस्य the desired benefit, desired object, desired purpose संसिद्धौ fulfilment, easy availability च too कः which विद्वान् sensible person यत्नं exertion, work involving exertion आचरेत् perform
അക്കേ ചേന്മധു വിന്ദേത കിമര്ത്ഥം പര്വ്വതംവ്രജേത്।
ഇഷ്ടാര്ത്ഥസ്യ ച സംസിദ്ധൌ കോ വിദ്വാന് യത്നമാചരേത്॥
കുറച്ച് വിവരവും സാമര്ത്ഥ്യവും എല്ലാമുള്ള മനുഷ്യന് മെയ്യനങ്ങി എന്തെങ്കിലും പ്രവൃത്തിയില് ഏര്പ്പെടണം എങ്കില് അതുകൊണ്ട് എന്തെങ്കിലും കാര്യമായ ലാഭം ഉണ്ടാവും എന്ന് ബോധ്യപ്പെടണം. എന്തെങ്കിലും സാധനം വളരെ എളുപ്പത്തില് കിട്ടുമെന്ന് ഒരാള്ക്ക് ഉറപ്പുണ്ടെങ്കില് അതിനുവേണ്ടി അധ്വാനിച്ചു പണിയെടുക്കാന് ഒരാളും തയാറാവില്ല. തേന് ശേഖരിക്കാന് ഒരാള് ഇറങ്ങിപ്പുറപ്പെട്ടു എന്ന് വിചാരിക്കുക. അയാളുടെ അടുക്കളത്തോട്ടത്തിന്റെ മൂലയില് തന്നെ തേന് കൂടു ഉണ്ടെങ്കില് പിന്നെ അയാള് മെനക്കെട്ട് നാടും കാടും കടന്നു മലയും മരവും കയറി തേനീച്ചകളെയും തേന് കൂടുകളെയും തേനിനെയും തേടിയുള്ള യാത്ര പുറപ്പെടുമോ?
ഈ ചോദ്യത്തിനു പലേ മാനങ്ങളും ഉണ്ട്.
ആദ്യമായി ഒരാള് തനിക്കുള്ള ശക്തിയും ഊര്ജ്ജവും ഏറ്റവും നല്ല ഫലം ലഭിക്കുന്ന വിധം മാത്രം ചിലവഴിക്കാന് ശ്രദ്ധിക്കണം. താന് ചിലവിടുന്ന ശക്തിയും സമയവും കൊണ്ട് കിട്ടുന്നതില് വച്ച് കൂടുതല് ലാഭം നേടാന് ശ്രമിക്കുന്നത് സ്വാഭാവികമാണ്.
രണ്ടാമത്തെ കാര്യം.. ഒരാള്ക്ക് ഒരു കാര്യം എളുപ്പത്തില് ചെയ്യുവാന് കഴിയും അല്ലെങ്കില് ഒരു വസ്തു പ്രയാസമില്ലാതെ കിട്ടും എന്നുണ്ടെങ്കില് അയാളുടെ കണ്ണില് ആ വസ്തുവിന്റെ വില വളരെ കുറഞ്ഞതായി തോന്നും. എത്ര ആശിച്ച വസ്തുവായാലും എളുപ്പത്തില് കിട്ടിയാല് ഒരാള്ക്ക് അതിലുള്ള താല്പര്യം പെട്ടെന്ന് കുറഞ്ഞു മിക്കവാറും ഇല്ലാതാവും. മുറ്റത്തെ മുല്ലക്ക് മണമില്ല.
മൂന്നാമതായി ഒരാള്ക്ക് ജീവിതത്തില് കൂടുതല് സുഖസൌകര്യങ്ങളും സൌഭാഗ്യങ്ങളും വരുമ്പോള് അയാളെ ആലസ്യം കൂടുതലായി ബാധിക്കുന്നു. മനസ്സിരുത്തി പണിയെടുക്കാനുള്ള അയാളുടെ ഉത്സാഹം ഏറെ കുറയുന്നു.
