For an elderly person, losing an adult child, is a terrible blow

For an elderly person, losing an adult child, is a terrible blow..
My friend posted about some such situations.. My reaction to that post..
" the subject is very relevant.. but too difficult to read, too frightening... especially when we are senior citizens..
Only prayer to God, please do not make the elders suffer..
it is painful even to lose a younger brother, younger sister or a nephew or a grandchild..or even a young friend..
I know my close friends and classmates have started to leave.. and my grief and terror knows no bounds.
I remember what an old Paatti.. an elderly lady in our neighbourhood did.
.She was a widow, beyond eighty years,,
Her eldest son was more than sixty..
One day the son had some cardiac problem and it was more than quarter of a century ago,, treatment for heart was not easily affordable to people who eke out their livelihood somehow or other..
The paatti sensed the danger.. of losing her son..
She cried and cried and was beating hard on her own chest for a full night.. and I do not know whether the beating of chest or the sorrow about the condition of the son's heart was the reason, the lady passed away the next day..
And within a week or so the Son also died of heart disease..
I think there was a lady who knew how to choose between the loss of a son while she was alive and her own life after losing a son
