अल्पाश्च गुणाः स्फीता भवन्ति गुणसमुच्छ्रितेषु पुरुषेषु।
श्वेतगिरि शिखरकेष्विव निशासु चन्द्रांशवः पतिताः॥ ५५ ॥
नीति द्विषष्टिका
alpāśca guṇāḥ sphītā bhavanti guṇasamucchriteṣu puruṣeṣu।
śvetagiri śikharakeṣviva niśāsu candrāṃśavaḥ patitāḥ॥ 55 ॥

Some great qualities and virtues, even though insignificant by themselves, get enhanced and shine forth in full glory when they are reach men who have already in their possession in their abundant store of virtues. The rays of the moon falling on the peaks of the brilliantly white, snow covered mountain, get enhanced in brilliance too.
It should be remembered that by the same token, even minor flaws arising to men of character get noticed and exaggerated beyond normal limits.
अल्पाः very small trivial गुणाः virtues, great qualities गुण समुच्छ्रितेषु in possession of well raised, exalted qualities पुरुषेषु menश्वे तगिरि the snow clad mountain, Kailas शिखरकेषु mountain tops निशासु during nights पतिताः fallen चन्द्रांशवः rays of the moon इव like स्फीताःswollen, enhanced, increased भवन्ति च becomes too
അല്പാശ്ച ഗുണാഃ സ്ഫീതാ ഭവന്തി ഗുണസമുച്ഛ്രിതേഷു പുരുഷേഷു।
ശ്വേതഗിരി ശിഖരകേഷ്വിവ നിശാസു ചന്ദ്രാംശവഃ പതിതാഃ॥ ൫൫ ॥
നീതി ദ്വിഷഷ്ടികാ
ചില നല്ല ഗുണങ്ങള്, അവ ആത്യന്തികമായി അത്ര പ്രാധാനും അര്ഹിക്കുന്നവ അല്ലെങ്കില് പോലും അന്തസ്സും തരവും നിറഞ്ഞു നില്ക്കുന്ന വ്യക്തികളില് കാണുമ്പോള് അവ ഏറെ ആകര്ഷണീയങ്ങളും പ്രശംസ പിടിച്ചുപട്ടുന്നവയും ആയി തീരുന്നു. രാത്രിയില് ചന്ദ്രന്റെ കിരണങ്ങള് തൂവെള്ള മഞ്ഞുമൂടി നില്ക്കുന്ന പര്വതത്തിന്റെ കൊടുമുടിയില് ചെന്ന് വീഴുമ്പോള് അവിടെനിന്നും അവ ഏറെ ശോഭയോടെ പ്രതിഫലിക്കുന്നു.
അതേസമയും ഒരു കാര്യം കൂടി ഓര്ക്കണം. വളരെ ഉയര്ന്ന സദാചാരമൂല്യങ്ങള് പുലര്ത്തിവരുന്ന വ്യക്തികളുടെ കാര്യത്തില് തങ്ങളുടെ പാതയില് നിന്നുള്ള തീരെ ചെറിയ വ്യതിയാനങ്ങള് പോലും ശ്രദ്ധിക്കപ്പെടും. ആവശ്യത്തിലധികം പ്രാധാന്യത്തോടെ അത്തരം കൊച്ചു പിഴവുകള് ചര്ച്ച ചെയ്യപ്പെടും.
