अन्धः स एव श्रुतवर्जितो यः

अन्धः स एव श्रुतवर्जितो यः शठः स एवार्थिनिरर्थको यः।

मृतः स एवास्ति यशो न यस्य धर्मे न धीर्यस्य स एव शोच्यः॥

क्षेमेन्द्र

andhaḥ sa eva śrutavarjito yaḥ śaṭhaḥ sa evārthinirarthako yaḥ|

mṛtaḥ sa evāsti yaśo na yasya dharme na dheeryasya sa eva śocyaḥ||

kṣemendra

A person who is without any knowledge of scriptures or sciences is indeed blind/

A person who is of no help to those who beg with him is indeed an inconsiderate rascal

A person who has achieved nothing in life to sustain his name is dead even when alive

And everyone has to grieve and lament on the fate of a fellow who has no desire to abide by the laws of propriety or the path of Dharma.
