Pooja

Pooja (ritualistic worship of God, the Hindu way) at home and at a temple are not different.

We perform all the rituals like Avahanam, Prana pratshta, Upacharas Moolamantra Japam and other rituals and Naivedyam for our house pooja too.

In fact if an idol at home is to be replaced we have to perform all the rituals as is done during a kumbabhiskekam in a temple, though we do it at a very minor scale.

Basics of pooja and acharams(rituals and observances) are more or less the same.

In fact the Madi (the observations of purity )is more strict and rigorous for aathu swami(the deity worshipped at home)
