We are doing the best but the best is neither optimal or adequate.
The shrugging of Atlas or the puranic reduction of Bhoobharam , the density of earth.. when it is deemed fit by that supreme being we humans have to remain helpless.
The scriptures say even the most benevolent gods like Ganesha assume the aspects of destruction like Kalagni Rudra when the cleaning up process starts.
Maybe just like the much touted genomic manipulation we tried to manipulate with the pace and order of the Maker. Perhaps He is putting in place the equalizer or balancer.
We cannot understand either His logic nor His mathematics.
We can just cringe for mercy..so that we may be spared
