disadvatages and dangers visit us in a bunch

आपदाम् आपतन्तीनां हितोप्यायाति हेतुताम् । 

मातृजङ्घा हि वत्सस्य स्तम्भीभवति बन्धने ॥३०॥

हितोपदेशे

āpadām āpatantīnāṃ hitopyāyāti hetutām ।

mātṛjaṅghā hi vatsasya stambhībhavati bandhane ॥30॥

hitopadeśe

When one is facing multiple dangers, even factors which are normally favorable to him become hostile and combine to add to his misery. The knee of the mother cow where the calf takes shelter normally and finds safety , becomes its restraining and tying post where the owner of the cow ties the calf to keep it in captivity.

हितः an object or person who is friendly and favourable अपि too आपतन्तीनां at the time of being confronted आपदां of dangers हेतुतां cause आयान्ति becomes . वत्सस्य of the calf बन्धने in getting bound, in made captive मातृजङ्घा the knee of the mother cow हि even स्तंभीभवति becomes the tying post.

ആപദാം ആപതന്തീനാം ഹിതോപ്യായാതി ഹേതുതാം । മാതൃജങ്ഘാ ഹി വത്സസ്യ സ്ടംഭീ ഭവതി ബന്ധനേ ॥൩൦॥

ഒരു മനുഷ്യന്‍ വിധിവൈപരീത്യം മൂലം വെല്ലുവിളികള്‍ നേരിടുന്ന അവസരങ്ങളില്‍ പലപ്പോഴും അയാള്‍ക്ക് നല്ല കാലത്ത് ഏറെ ഉപകാരപ്രദങ്ങളും അനുകൂലങ്ങളും ആയിരുന്ന വ്യക്തികളും വസ്തുക്കളും പോലും ഉപദ്രവങ്ങളും ആപത്തും നല്കുന്നവയായി മാറാറുണ്ട്‌. പശുക്കിടാവ്‌ ഏറെ സന്തോഷത്തോടെ അമ്മപ്പശുവിന്‍റെ കാലിനു ചുറ്റും ഇഴുകിച്ചേര്‍ന്ന് നില്‍ക്കുന്നത് കണ്ടിട്ടില്ലേ.. പക്ഷെ അതെ കിടാവിനെ വലിച്ച് ഇറുക്കി അനങ്ങാതെ കെട്ടി നിര്‍ത്തുവാനുള്ള കുറ്റിയായി അതെ അമ്മപ്പശുവിന്‍റെ കാലുകളാണ് കറവക്കാരന്‍ ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നത്.
