पङ्कोद्भवं न च विमर्दसहं सदैव
शैवालजालसहवासविडंबितं च |
इन्दीवरं दिनकरेण महाशयेन
संभावितं भवति भाजनमिन्दिरायाः ||

paṅkodbhavaṃ na ca vimardasahaṃ sadaiva
śaivālajālasahavāsaviḍaṃbitaṃ ca |
indīvaraṃ dinakareṇa mahāśayena
saṃbhāvitaṃ bhavati bhājanamindirāyāḥ ||

The lotus flower takes birth in the dirt of a lake. Its stalk and petals are all ever very soft delicate and brittle and they could not take much of pressure and survive. The flower sprouts and grows in the company of dirty algae and other unattractive waterplants and therefore the flower too becomes the subject matter of ridicule for its bad company.
However, the person of great eminence, the creater of the day is pleased to have a glimpse at the flower. His eyes of approval fall on the blooming flower as the day dawns. And therefore, the flower attains all its beauty and glory and becomes the dwelling place of the goddess of wealth Lakshmi herself.
Even though facing all disadvantages, the lotus has the approval and support of the noble sun. So it blooms into great glory.
The company and support of great souls would really make the difference.
पङ्कोद्भवं taking birth, sprouting in dirt and slush सदा एव always न विमर्द्ध सहं not able to bear even small pressure, so brittle and delicate शैवाल जाल group of unattractive acquatic plants like algae and other tendrils सहवास living together विडंबितं being ridiculed, being laughed at च too
महाशयेन person of great eminence and status, person of great standard दिनकरेण the creator of the day, the Sun संभावितं being observed or considered with favour, being patronized इन्दीवरं the lotus flower इन्दिरायाः of Goddess Lakshmi भाजनं object of special consideration favourite भवति becomes
പങ്കോദ്ഭവം ന ച വിമര്ദസഹം സദൈവ
ശൈവാലജാലസഹവാസവിഡംബിതം ച |
ഇന്ദീവരം ദിനകരേണ മഹാശയേന
സംഭാവിതം ഭവതി ഭാജനമിന്ദിരായാഃ ||

ഏതോ കാട്ടിലെ തടാകത്തിലെ ചെളിയിലാണ് താമര വളരുന്നത്. താമരയുടെ തണ്ടും വിടരുന്ന ഇതളുകളുമെല്ലാം ഏറെ മൃദുത്വം ഉള്ളവയും കൊച്ചു കൊച്ചു ക്ഷതങ്ങള് ഏറ്റാല്പ്പോലും നിവര്ന്നു നില്ക്കാന് കഴിയാതവണ്ണം ബലം കുറഞ്ഞവയും ആണ് .
പിന്നെ പൂവിന്റെ സഹവാസം പായലിനോടും അതുപോലെ വൃത്തികെട്ട ചെടികളോടും ഒപ്പം ആയതിനാല് തന്നെ താമരയ്ക്ക് കൂട്ടുകെട്ടിനെക്കുറീച്ചുള്ള ഒട്ടേറെ പരിഹാസം എപ്പോഴും കേള്ക്കേണ്ടി വരുന്നതുമാണ്.
പക്ഷെ രാവിലെ പ്രകാശമേറിയ പകലിനെ ചുമലിലേറ്റി ശക്തനും മഹാത്മാവും ആയ സൂര്യന് ഉയര്ന്നു വരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സ്നേഹം നിറഞ്ഞ നോട്ടം താമരയില് പതിക്കുന്നു. അതോടെ പൂവ് അതിന്റെ എല്ലാ മനോഹാരിതയോടും കൂടി വിടര്ന്നു നില്ക്കുന്നു. ഭാഗ്യദേവതായായ ലക്ഷ്മി ആ പൂവില് കുടി കൊള്ളാന് ഓടിയെത്തുന്നു.
ശരിയാണ്. എത്രയധികം കോട്ടങ്ങള് ഒരാള്ക്ക് ഉണ്ടെങ്കിലും അതെല്ലാം ഇല്ലാതാവും. ഒരു ഉത്തമനായ വ്യക്തിയുടെ സ്നേഹവും പരിഗണനയും ലഭിക്കുമ്പോള്.
നല്ലവരുടെ ചങ്ങാത്തം ജീവിതത്തില് വലിയ വ്യത്യാസം വരുത്തി തീര്ക്കും
