Supreme being pervades every object in this world and is therefore called Vishnu.

काष्ठपाषाणधातूनां कृत्वा भावेन सेवनम्।

श्रद्धया च तथा सिद्धिस्तस्य विष्णुप्रसादतः॥

महासुभषितसङ्ग्रहे ९९५८ चाणक्य नीति

kāṣṭhapāṣāṇadhātūnāṁ kṛtvā bhāvena sevanam|

śraddhayā ca tathā siddhistasya viṣṇuprasādataḥ||

mahāsubhaṣitasaṅgrahe 9958 cāṇakya nīti

When even logs of wood, pieces of stones or lumps of minerals are worshipped, served with intense devotion and sense of purpose and with great attention and faith then the object of worship and service is realized and revealed and the sincere worship attains fulfilment through the blessings of the Supreme being who pervades every object in this world and is therefore called Vishnu.

It is not the shape size or beauty of the material being worshipped but the intense faith and sense of purpose exhibited by the worshipper that ensures the divine presence in the idol or symbol being worshipped. The obect of worship, the Supreme one is present everywhere, and therefore he is present in logs, stones and lumps of clay or minerals too.

काष्ठ- logs of wood पाषाण- stones or rock धातूनां minerals भावेन with intense sense of purpose, sincerity श्रद्धया with great care च too सेवनं कृत्वा serving, being intensely involved तथा that way, then तस्य of that object सिद्धि realization, consummation विष्णु प्रसादतः by the blessing of the all pervading Supreme being, Lord Vishnu भवति happens

കാഷ്ഠപാഷാണധാതൂനാം കൃത്വാ ഭാവേന സേവനം।

ശ്രദ്ധയാ ച തഥാ സിദ്ധിസ്തസ്യ വിഷ്ണുപ്രസാദതഃ॥

മഹാസുഭഷിതസങ്ഗ്രഹേ ൯൯൫൮ ചാണക്യ നീതി

ഒരാള്‍ ആരാധിക്കുന്നത് ഒരു തടിക്കഷണത്തെയോ ഒരു പാറയുടെ തുണ്ടിനെയോ ഒരു മണ്‍കട്ടയേയോ ആയിക്കൊള്ളട്ടെ, എന്നാല്‍ അയാള്‍ക്ക് ആരാധിക്കുന്ന വസ്തുവിനോടു അതി തീവ്രമായ പ്രതിബദ്ധതയും ആ വസ്തു താന്‍ രൂപകല്‍പന ചെയ്ത വസ്തുവില്‍ സാന്നിധ്യം കൊള്ളുന്നു എന്ന ഉറച്ച വിശ്വാസവും ഉണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ അയാള്‍ക്ക് ആ ആരാധനം കൊണ്ട് സര്‍വശക്തന്‍റെ സാക്ഷാത്കാരം നേടിയെടുക്കാന്‍ സാധിക്കും. ഇത് സര്‍വവ്യാപിയായ വിഷ്ണുവിന്റെ അനുഗ്രഹം കൊണ്ടായിരിക്കും

ഒരാള്‍ ആരാധിക്കുന്ന വസ്തുവിന്‍റെ രൂപവും ഭംഗിയും പരിമാണവും ഒന്നുമല്ല ആ വസ്തുവില്‍ ദൈവസാന്നിധ്യം നിശ്ചയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്. ആരാധിക്കുന്നവന്‍റെ ഭാവവും വിശ്വാസത്തിലുള്ള തീക്ഷ്ണതയും പിന്നെ അയാളുടെ ആത്മാര്‍ത്ഥതയും എല്ലാം ചേര്‍ന്നാണ് ആരാധിക്കപെടുന്ന വസ്തുവില്‍, ആ വസ്തു ബിംബമായാലും, പ്രതിമയായാലും, ചിഹ്നമായാലും അതില്‍ ദൈവസാന്നിധ്യം കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നത്. ഒരാള്‍ ആരാധിക്കുന്ന ആത്യന്തികമായ വസ്തു സര്‍വശക്തനായ ദൈവം ആണ്. ആ ദൈവം പ്രപഞ്ചത്തില്‍ എല്ലായിടത്തും വ്യാപിച്ചു നില്‍ക്കുന്നു. അപ്പോള്‍ അദ്ദേഹം തടിയിലും കല്ലിലും കളിമണ്ണിലും എല്ലാം സന്നിഹിതനാണ്. എല്ലായിടത്തും വ്യാപിച്ചു കിടക്കുന്നത് കൊണ്ടാണല്ലോ അവിടുത്തെ നാം വിഷ്ണു എന്ന് വിളിക്കുന്നത്.
