when we love a person intensely good or bad qualities really do not matter

किं गुणैस्तस्य कर्तव्यं चेतसे योऽभिरोचते।

किं गुणैस्तस्य कर्तव्यं चेतसे नो च रोचते॥

सुभाषितसुधारत्नभाण्डागारे॥

kiṁ guṇaistasya kartavyaṁ cetase yo'bhirocate|

kiṁ guṇaistasya kartavyaṁ cetase no ca rocate||

subhāṣitasudhāratnabhāṇḍāgāre||

Do the good qualities and virtues really matter in the case of a person who is very close to us emotionally

Also, Do the good qualities and virtues really matter in the case of a person who is mentally and emotionally detestable ?

If one loves a person intensely , that love and affection will be there even if the person being loved does not possess any great qualities.

And if one hates a person very much, that hatred is not going to be converted to love just because the person whom he hates is having great qualities.

यः who चेतसे to the mind, emotionally अभिरोचते is very pleasing and desirable तस्य his गुणैः किं कर्तव्यं what is the use for his virtue and good qualitiesयः whoe चेतसे to the mind न रोचते is mentally detested तस्य his गुणैःgood qualities and virtues किं कर्तव्यं अपि च what is the use too

കിം ഗുണൈസ്തസ്യ കര്‍തവ്യം ചേതസേ യോഽഭിരോചതേ।

കിം ഗുണൈസ്തസ്യ കര്‍തവ്യം ചേതസേ നോ ച രോചതേ॥

സുഭാഷിതസുധാരത്നഭാണ്ഡാഗാരേ॥

ഒരാള്‍ മറ്റൊരാളെ കണ്ണടച്ചു സ്നേഹിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അങ്ങിനെ സ്നേഹിക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ആളുകളുടെ ഗുണങ്ങള്‍ അവ നല്ലവയായാലും ചീത്തകള്‍ ആയാലും ആ കാരണം കൊണ്ട് മാത്രം ഒന്നും പ്രത്യകിച്ച് നേടാനില്ല

ഒരാള്‍ മറ്റൊരാളെ ഏറെ വെറുക്കുമ്പോളും അങ്ങിനെ വെറുക്കപ്പെടുന്ന വ്യക്തിയുടെ ഗുണങ്ങള്‍ കൊണ്ടും പ്രത്യേകിച്ചു ഒരു പ്രയോജനവും ഇല്ല.

ഒരുപാടു സ്നേഹിക്കുന്ന ആള്‍ക്ക് എന്തൊക്കെ ദോഷങ്ങളും കുറ്റങ്ങളും കുറവുകളും ഉണ്ടെങ്കിലും അതൊന്നും നമ്മുടെ കണ്ണില്‍ പെടുകയില്ല .പിന്നെ അയാളെ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്നത് അയാള്‍ നല്ല ഗുണങ്ങളുടെ വിളനിലമാണ് എന്നൊന്നും കരുതിയിട്ടും അല്ല. അതേസമയം ഒരാളോടു നമുക്ക് അങ്ങേയറ്റം വെറുപ്പും അസൂയയും എല്ലാമാണ് ഉള്ളതെങ്കില്‍ അയാള്‍ക്ക് എന്തെല്ലാം നല്ല ഗുണങ്ങള്‍ ഉണ്ടെങ്കിലും അതൊന്നും നാം കണ്ടു വന്നു നടിക്കുകയില്ല . എത്ര നല്ലതായാലും നാം അതൊന്നും അംഗീകരിക്കുകയും ഇല്ല.
