आज्ञाभङ्गकरान् राजा न क्षमेत् स्वसुतानपि ।।
विशेषः को नु राज्ञश्च राज्ञश्चित्रगतस्य च ।। 349/102 ।।
हितोपदेशे
ājñābhaṅgakarān rājā na kṣamet svasutānapi ।।
viśeṣaḥ ko nu rājñaśca rājñaścitragatasya ca ।।
349/102 ।।hitopadeśe
A king worth his name should not take lightly or condone the activities of any persons flouting or disobeying the Royal orders, even if the person who broke the order was his own son. If such strictness is not adhered to by the King, then what indeed is the difference between a real king and a king who is seen just in pictures?
The idea is that a king should ensure that his orders are followed in words and spirit by all. No laxity should be allowed.
राजा the king आज्ञा –भङ्ग- करान् who flout, who disobey the Royal Orders स्वसुतान् own sons अपि too न not क्षमेत् excuse, partd नो चेत् if that is not so राज्ञः of the king चित्रगतस्य राज्ञः the king who has gone into a picture the king portrayed in a picture च too अन्तरे between कः what विशेषः special difference नु indeed ?
ആജ്ഞാഭങ്ഗകരാന്‍ രാജാ ന ക്ഷമേത് സ്വസുതാനപി ।।
വിശേഷഃ കോ നു രാജ്ഞശ്ച രാജ്ഞശ്ചിത്രഗതസ്യ ച ।। 349/102 ।। ഹിതോപദേശം
യഥാര്‍ത്ഥ ഭരണ നൈപുണ്യം ഉള്ള ഒരു രാജാവ് തന്‍റെ നിയമങ്ങളും ആജ്നകളും കൃത്യമായി പാലിക്കപ്പെടുന്നു എന്ന് ഉറപ്പു വരുത്തണം. ആജ്ഞാലംഘനം രാജാവിന്‍റെ തന്നെ സ്വന്തം കുമാരനില്‍ നിന്നാണ് സംഭാവിക്കുനതെങ്കില്‍ പോലും അത് അനുവദനീയമല്ല. ഇപ്രകാരം സ്വന്തം ആജ്ഞകള്‍ നടപ്പില്‍ വരുത്താന്‍ കഴിവില്ലാത്ത ഒരു രാജാവിനും ചിത്രത്തില്‍ മാത്രം കാണുന്ന രാജാവിനും തമ്മില്‍ വലിയ വ്യത്യാസം ഒന്നുമില്ല.
