पठन्ति वेदशास्त्राणि बोधयन्ति परस्परम् |
न जानन्ति परं तत्त्वं दर्वी पाकरसं यथा ||

paṭhanti vedaśāstrāṇi bodhayanti parasparam |
na jānanti paraṃ tattvaṃ darvī pākarasaṃ yathā ||

Numerous people study with interest the scriptures and sciences. Many of them engage themselves in imparting to one another such knowledge gathered. However most often no one ever knows the ultimate truth ingrained in the sciences and scriptures, their inner core and substance. It is just like the fact that the ladle or the serving spoon that handles the delicious food while preparing such food and serving it never really understands or enjoys the taste of such food.
They study the Vedas. Exchange notes and teach each other. Still they do not know the ultimate truth that is being discussed in the Vedas. Just like the serving spoon that never knows the taste of the dish.

मर्त्याः men वेदशास्त्राणि scriptures and sciences पठन्ति study with care परस्परं one another बोधयन्ति teach, impart ideas too तथा अपि even then दर्वी the ladle or serving spoon पाकरसं the tasted of the dish being served इव like परम् the ultimate तत्त्वं truth, enlightenment न जानन्ति does not know does not realize
പഠന്തി വേദശാസ്ത്രാണി ബോധയന്തി പരസ്പരം |
ന ജാനന്തി പരം തത്ത്വം ദര്വീ പാകരസം യഥാ ||

ജനങ്ങള് വേദങ്ങളും ശാസ്ത്രങ്ങളും മിനക്കെട്ടു പഠിക്കാന് ശ്രമിക്കുന്നു. മറ്റുള്ളവരെ പഠിപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു പരസ്പരം പറഞ്ഞു മനസ്സിലാക്കുവാനും എല്ലാം ശ്രമിക്കുന്നു. പക്ഷ മിക്കവാറും ആരും തങ്ങള് അഭ്യസിക്കുന്നതിന്റെയോ പരിശീലിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിന്ന്റെയോ ആത്യന്തികമായ പോരുള് തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നില്ല. അതിന്നായി ആരും ശ്രമിക്കുന്നുമില്ല. ആഹാരം പാകം ചെയ്യുവാനും അതെ ആഹാരം വിളംബിക്കൊടുവാനും എല്ലാം ഉപയോഗപ്പെടുന്ന തവിക്ക് ആഹാരത്തിന്റെ മൂല്യത്തെക്കുറിച്ചും സ്വാദിനെക്കുറിച്ചും വലിയ ബോധം ഇല്ലാത്തത് പോലെ.
